It seemed like my glow plugs' resistance was futile because they stopped helping the tractor start. So I started troubleshooting. My L245 didn't have an indicator light when I got it and so I've always just watched the oil light dim and counted to 20 (or 30+ when it's cold).
Anyway, what I discovered with my multimeter is if I turn the starter switch all the way to the left like usual it no longer sends current to the glow plugs. But if I turn it halfway to the left it is. So that's at least workable until I replace the switch.
In the process of doing this I discovered the glow plugs themselves have a resistance of 0.5 ohms, measured between the plug and the negative terminal on the battery. The are all consistent, but the service manual specs them at 1.5 ohms. They seem to be working just fine when actually getting current and I'm not feeling especially enthusiastic about replacing the one that's behind the injection pump, so I thought I'd see what people here thought about the need to get new ones sooner rather than later.
