I bought this tractor 5 months ago was half full of fuel all was ok.
Filled fuel tank for the first time looks like fuel is leaking from a fitting that is threaded into right rear of fuel tank. Has anyone had to repair or know how to repair????

A lot of people have trouble leaking at the left rear where the sending unit is under the tin. It needs an updated gasket. It is a pain to get to and then the fuel float has to be lined up perfectly.

Haven't heard of leaking from the right near the filler cap.

Try posting a photo of it. I can't recall seeing a fitting where you describe. Maybe this afternoon I'll give it a look.

Nope, no fitting on the gas tank (top, sides, bottom) on the right half. Someone must have put something there later for some reason.

>Does the fitting screw into a reinforced area or is it just screwed into the plastic tank wall?

>Are there wires coming from the fitting?

>Does it serve an obvious function?

The only "fitting" in the right side of your fuel tank is a molded nipple at inside top edge. It is made into the tank, serves as a vent between the left and right sides. Check to see if a hose clamp is loose or if the hose is split.

There are those that believe that Teflon tape should not be used on fuel fittings. Apparently, the fuel dissolves the tape into gunk and it ends up clogging fuel injectors. The results are expensive.

There are specific sealants that are designed to be used for fuel. Ask at your local Napa or auto parts store (not a large chain store w/inexperienced staff). Permatex makes some fuel-proof sealants that work.
