The M5040 is not a ‘90s tractor. It’s a 2007-2010 tractor, and I doubt if M5400 accys will fit it.

The M5400 is a mid 90s tractor and is only slightly more hp (54HP) than the M4700 which I own (47HP) because they increased the governor limit from 2600 to 2700 RPM to the engine. Otherwise the M5400 and M4700 are virtually the same tractor. (Anecdotally I was told the reason for the 100 RPM difference was to meet taxation and regulatory requirements in some market areas regarding tractors less than and more than 50 HP. Except for that 100 RPMs, and a 2-qt larger radiator in the M5400, there are no other differences according to the Owners Manuals. In fact, the next model was the M5700 and it also used the exact same F2803 5-cyl diesel but they increased the max RPM another 100 to 2800 and claimed 61HP. Therefore in my M4700 I do not worry about RPM limits, although I’ve not changed anything, it still governs at 2600.)
