Found a great deal on a GCK60-BX grass catcher and knew it was made for older series BX tractors. Figured I could fab something up, or sell it if unable. To my delight, it was easier than I thought!
If you have a GCK60-BX grass catcher, but a newer BX (not sure where the change was, but mine is a 60-series BX1860), you can fairly simply adapt the catcher to work. The "older" grass catcher's tube that extends and connects to the top link of the tractor is about 5" too short. Other than that, all lines up perfectly.
I bought this "adjustable leveling arm" at Tractor Supply for $30.
It is too long so I cut the middle out of the housing and welded the two end pieces together.
Don't look too closely at the welding job.
Drilled new holes for the pins, installed, and it works like a charm.
Takes some grunting to get it attached, but I don't think the adapter makes it any more difficult. Just a heavy, awkward implement.
For $30 and a little effort I am very pleased with the outcome!
