My F2000 was leaking hydraulic fluid so I had it split and a new gasket was installed. Upon operating it afterwards, the pedals needed adjusting so I tightened the spring. The pump seems to be whining a bit more than before and on any slope it looses hydraulic pressure and free-wheels momentarily. Pedals seem a little less reactive than before the repair. Any insight as to what might need checked out further is appreciated

Sorry to ask the obvious but have you checked hydraulic fluid level? Best to get that out of the way first.

Next you might want to remove the hydraulic filter and see if there is any evidence of a problem. Metal shavings or other pieces that might be caught in there. Maybe even drain a little fluid out at the drain plug and see if anything strange comes out at the lowest point in the case.

That is where I would start.

Send it back and tell them to fix it correctly if it did not free-wheel before.
If you continue running it, you will need a hydrostat assembly soon.
