Need help with a newly acquired f2000 mower. The forward and reverse pedals are sticking and won’t return to center. This leads to creeping for and aft when you don’t manually center the pedals.. I cant find any return spring.. should their be one? And where should it be if so. If not. How do these pedals return to neutral/center.

Needs to be fixed as my kids will be running it this summer and I’d prefer to keep the back wall of my barn where it is. And free from f2000 sized holes.

Any help. Much appreciated

If you look on the right side of the hydro unit you should see the control shaft coming out of it with a arm with a v shape. that arm is encouraged toward neutral by another arm that has a bearing on it that rides in the v of the hst actuating arm. the arm with the bearing has a spring to hold it tight into the v
A few things go wrong here! firstly, there is a new spring that is somewhat stronger to help return it to neutral
secondly, the v shaped lever and the bearing are subject to wear and failure.
Also the plastic bushing at the end of the arm with the bearing can get seized .
Make sure any debris is cleaned out of that area.
The return spring has an adjustment for tension that can be tightened and also it could have worn out and fell off.
