We just returned from a month-long trip pulling the travel-trailer from Tx thru NM, UT, MT, WY, CO, and back ….
While in Salt Lake I bought a small inverter-generator from Cabela’s for when we “boondock”…and it worked just fine ..except for the 1.5 gal fuel tank which ony gives it about 5 hrs run-time…. So it quits about 2AM….and isn’t convenient in West-Tx summer months when we want the AC to run all night.
So, I decided to construct a sealed, no–vented gas-cap for it to suction-feed from an auxiliary tank…. which didn’t work as expected… The more modern gennys have EPA and emissions equipt which 1) Defeat gas-cap-refill-types because the tank is inernally vented with the aforementioned EPA equip’t, and 2) Can be dangerous if the EPA-tank/PCV mandated controls become swamped with gasoline that then spills onto the ground, etc.
I wasted a half-day and several brass fittings and gaskets and spare gas-caps experimenting with that failed method.
Then I discovered a Very Clever Solution I thought others might find interesting. I have absolutely No Connection or benefit by posting this. I’m just so pleased to see there Are still people out there with good ideas and honest business practices…. who also promptly respond to inquiring emails with solutions…and even send-along extra parts to assist an inquiry like mine. (I had a question about elevating the aux-tank above the genny and he responded immediately and explained he was freely throwing-in an extra part to help me explore my alteration.)
All with free 2-day shipping and quality parts. (He apparently has developed his product for a vast assortment of different mfr’s gen’s.
