Tree service used a small Kubota excavator with a grapple to take care of my huge oak. Operator grabbed a 5 foot diameter log that was cut to fit his trailer (maybe 8 - 12 foot). As he went DOWN the driveway the grapple and log went down to the gravel and the back of the excavator track was a foot off the ground.
Even the pros get the pucker every now and then.
I did have a copy of his liability insurance in the house as part of the quote.

If that “small” excavator was carrying a 5’ diameter 8~12 foot log down your driveway, I can only imagine what a large excavator might be in your parts!

It was a 040 unit. Looked small to me. I was amazed at the amount of tree that he could move with it. From a pile of branches to some serious logs.
Trees were close to 100 footers. Some local got a bunch of free (?) fire wood.
