I was considering attaching one of the stick on electric tank heaters, 250W or so, and can only find ones made by Titan in Ontario. Has anyone used these or similar heaters. The boys up north here in NWT swear by them but not sure if they's do it for an L1-38. Any thoughts or experience.

I have a small magnetic heater, only place I can find that is suitable is the side of the oil pan.
I believe it does help with cold starts, but we don't get that cold here on the coast, -15C is about the coldest I have worked in. When it snows here, it warms up quite a bit. Even so, I like it to keep the crankcase oil warm, for a bit better lubrication until the beast gets up to temperature.
I think they are also intended for the top of the rad, but I don't have room for it there.
There are a few threads about this from about this time last year.
