Hi, I have a generally very reliable d850 engine in my boat. I’m desperate to take the family out but have got myself in a pickle and am hoping someone can help before I really mess things up!!
I’m generally not too bad with engines but certainly no expert!!
I recently replaced my glow plugs, which now work great. However, in order to replace one of them I needed to removed two of the in injector pump nozzle things and the pipes that run to the injectors.
I realised after I changed the glow plugs that I only needed to remove the fuel lines and not the injector pump nozzle which the fuel lines screw onto.
when I took the injector pump nozzle out it came complete with a spring and some other parts which I was careful not to lose.
My problem now is that when removing the nozzle and flake of paint dropped into the diesel inside the pump!!!
nightmare!!
I now need to get the paint out of the pump. Does anyone know the best way to do this without causing more problems for myself??
can I unbolt the pump and clean it out without upsetting the timing?
Is there anything I need to watch out for, like small parts dropping off when I pull it out?
also, do the nozzles/timing get upset when you remove them from the pump and reinstall them?
thanks in advance!! I think I’ll be a frequent user of these forums and I hope this answer
