Correct injector pop-off psi for an L200?

Hi folks,

I'm wondering if anyone out there knows the pop-off psi should be for the diesel injectors on an L200... this is the 2 cylinder, Z1100 engine.

It's a long story, but in the attempt to troubleshoot my hard-starting L200, I pop-tested my injectors today – one was about 2,000 psi, the other was about 2,500 psi. Then I disassembled, cleaned and reassembled them, and they're both right around 2,500 psi now. I can add or remove shims to vary the pop-off psi, but I'm not sure what it's supposed to be! I'm also not sure if they're acting like the should... they're not atomizing the fuel like I pictured they would.

I have the owner's manual and the parts manual, but I don't have the shop manual for this tractor... does the shop manual normally give this sort of pop-off psi info?

Thanks,
-Norm.

The shop manual for mine does have all the information - yes. I have the feeling <g> everything is model specific but the pressures for my model is 2700 - first stage and 3400 second stage so they're pretty high. Just 2 cents but unless you have a good pattern the pressures are relative after a point. I'm sure you already knew that but just though I'd say it. Within a couple hundred pounds of being right the pattern is more important.

Excuse my ignorance, but as the kids say, "I ain't hip to this lingo". If by the term pop off pressure you are referring to the pressure at which it opens, then according to my service manual for my L210, it should be 2000 psi. My manual does not specifically cover the L200, but the L210 has the same engine. I have attached a picture of the page where it describes this. I hope it is legible, and I hope this is what you were looking for.

Thanks guys,

Yes L4740, you've got it right, that's what I was looking for... the pressure at which it opens is what I was referring to. Sounds like I need to work on the shims to get these to pop at 2,000 psi...

The pattern, however is poor. Could the nozzles be worn out on this tractor, with (supposedly) less than 700 hours on it? (yes, the tractor is old, but it is really in good shape). I took the nozzles out and it looks like they're a Denso DN12SD12 – but the Bosch, etc. all use the same number. I found some online for $22 each – if I search the Kubota part number they are $48 or more each.

Now I know I need to buy a shop manual...

Thanks!

Norm, I got my service manual off of ebay. I did search out there yesterday for L200 and found nothing. However, when I searched for L210 there were many manuals available, including service manuals. Some for as little as $10 plus shipping. For all intense purposes, the L200 and the L210 are the same tractor. There are some styling difference but that's about it. So a L210 service manual will help you with your engine troubles.
