Hi All,

I've been a longtime follower of Kubotas (and this site) and finally am in a place where I can consider purchasing one (ie. my current tractor has worn out its welcome). So, I have a farming operation and do plenty of loader work, bale hay (small squares and use a hay grapple), plow snow ..... so I'm looking at an M7040 w/ FEL and 3 position joystick as well as pallet forks. My question is "any comment/opinion on the SUD(H) version vs the standard M?" From my understanding, one main diff is the SUD has no synchros in 1st and 2nd gear but the price is significantly lower. Any thoughts? Also, is it worth going with "quick attach" bucket and pallet forks vs standard? Does that keep you from using non-QA stuff on your loader?

Thanks.

Geoff

You need to clarify which "standard" M7040 you mean ( dt1 or dths1).
There are a lot of sacrifices in the su model, shuttle, front diff lock remote valve etc. If you can live without these features then the su is for you! We've sold a few, no customer complaints yet! Get the QA system though!

As mentioned, there are two "economy" versions, the 7040 SU and 7040 SUHD. We replaced our Synchronized Shuttle Shift with a Hydraulic Shuttle Shift and highly recommend the HDS. We also find the limited slip front differential to be a really nice feature.

We own an M8540 HDC and really would hate to do without the features of the regular M Series, but as mentioned, the SU Series makes a really nice tractor for some people at a reasonable price and I have not heard of any complaints. chances are if you have never used any of the added features, you won't mss them.

Sorry - it's a M7040 SUHD (w/ hydraulic shuttle shift), 3 function joystick and QA loader/forks.

Hey Ed - can you tell me which features ARE NOT found on the SU models? My dealer salesmen (2 dealerships) aren't all that clear on what the complete list of differences is.

Example - no differential lock? That's news to me. Thanks for your help, everyone.

The M7040suhd has hydraulic shuttle and one rear remote. It DOESN"T have draft control TPH and FRONT differential lock ( it does have rear diff lock) The M7040su has none of these features except REAR diff lock. All other M7040's have limited slip front diff's. Hope this helps clear it up! The M7040suhd is the right tractor for 95% of people.

Go to your dealer and test drive both. For the little extra money you'll probably come home with the m7040. I did.
