Hi Folks, I have an L3301 with the Curtis cab. I'm hoping to install a cab heater this fall and after studying for some time have come to the conclusion that the only proper place to attach a supply hose for the heater is the water temperature sensor port on the thermostat housing. I'm hoping to have the necessary parts on hand before I drain the cooling system, and wanted to inquire if anyone knows the thread on the sender? From reading on the web I think it's likely 12 mm and probably 12-1.5 machine thread with an O ring or deforming washer seal.

Does anyone have experience adding heat to the cab of this model or from this engine without the exorbitantly expensive Curtis heater kit? Thank you.

I don't know your particular machine, probably best to pull the plug and measure the threads. On my M59 I seem to remember thinking it was an NPT fitting.

I've been keeping an eye on sales on heater cores as I'd like to add heat for my Sidekick. List price CDN$399

At that price the heater kits on flea-bay with hoses, clamps and fittings sounds like a better buy.

How much are your cab heater kits? Sometimes the OEM kits end up being cheaper and faster if they include everything you need and just bolt on than if you part them out yourself.

curious, heater kit from Curtis Cab is only $635, about 10% of the cab itself, probably the best(?) way to get heat into your cab ?
To compare you need to know the BTU output of the heater. Might be in the install manual which I just downloaded. got it.... 20,000 BTU, 2 speed fan.....also lists parts on first page !

The heater and connections I used in my DIY cab. It wasn't difficult:
