Coming up on 400 hrs on my BX2680 - getting ready for the 400 hr service items. I do a Rock Auto order 2-3 times per year and try to get everything I’ll need for the cars/truck, tractor, and other OPE. For the coolant change I was going to change out the fan belt. Kubota part # is a 16241-97013. I bought the tractor used and the fan belt on there right now is a Bando RPF 2370. This belt is about $4 on RA. I usually expect RA parts vs. OEM/other sources to be quite a bit less, but $4 vs. about $21 for the KU part seems a little off. I also see a Gates 7370 which xrefs to the KU for about $11. Anyone using either the Bando or the Gates?

Looking at also ordering an air filter with the RA order. The air filter in the tractor when I bought it was a Fleetguard AF25550. I’ve got a Fleetpride not to far from me so I could pick up another one or a KU for about the same $20-22. This is a pretty common filter and are available as Wix, Baldwin, Donaldson, etc. for $13/14 on RA. All of these filters except the KU all have a matching secondary (safety) filter available. Messicks does mention these on their website for certain models. I called and the parts rep said there was no secondary filter for the BX2680. Anyone running one of these secondary filters on a BX2680 or B2301 with the same engine? Recommendations I read are one secondary for every 3-4 primary filters you use - seems about right, I wouldn’t expect it to filter much unless the primary fails.

I’m also seeing replacement of radiator hoses, power steering line, fuel lines, and intake air hoses every 4 years, which I’m already over. Are other owners replacing these lines/hoses on this frequency? I could see maybe 6,8, or 10 years, but every 4 seems a bit excessive?

Kubota does have a secondary filter that is located inside the primary air filter; however, I am unsure of the part number.

The BX2680 uses a different air filter than the other BX tractors. No inner filter offered at present.
There is an inner filter available for them.

Did you watch Messick's videos about the safety filters?

The video mentions part #K7561-82360 for the safety filter appropriate for BX tractors. I have a BX23S and it worked fine. Messick's product page states "Safety or Secondary filter. Fits the following models, and can also be used as a safety filter on the BX-Series." I can't speak to the specifics of the BX2680 that @whitetiger mentioned.

I'm really hoping some other people will chime in about changing out the radiator hoses, fuel lines, etc. When I saw that on the service interval I also thought it seemed excessive. I'm only at 250 hours so I have some time to figure it out.

I've had my BX2380 since 2017. I have no intention of replacing radiator hoses or fuel lines unless they break, which I doubt will happen. Wouldn't change them on a car or truck every four years. Ain't gonna do it on the tractor.

My L48TLB is 19 years old, and I do not believe that any hose has ever been replaced.
They all seem reasonably soft/supple.
I suppose if someone were to put 1,000 hours per year on their machine, or parked in the Arizona desert, that it might make sense to change hoses every 4 years.
19 year old hoses on my under 200 hour, 19 year old tractor, stored inside, used only very occasionally, by an 84 year old owner, are not likely to be changed any time soon.

Thank for the information on the secondary filter. This won’t restrict air, will it? Will have to order one.

No, it will not restrict air flow. It is a Kubota offered option.
An inner air filter can be added to any BX series tractor except the BX2680. One may be offered later.

Factor in the level of dusty conditions you use your tractor in. With the NH owned only replaced couple hoses every ~300 hours due to a weak design. Hydraulic "elbow" hoses that connected to the hydraulic cooling radiator would fatigue with hours. +24 y/o, but low hours and unless in use stored inside the garage. No mowing. Just dust from grading driveway and trails. Majority of the hours were spent snow plowing or snow blowing. Checked the primary air filter and replaced maybe every other year. In between a gentle air cleaning. Secondary air filter was occasionally replaced. Always looked fine.

When needing a new air filter will replace with the Kubota model that has the secondary. JMHO, better to spend a few extra $s vs. maybe mega $$$s for an event that might have been prevented by the 2nd filter.

I have not replaced any hoses or lines on my 2014 BX2370 with 800+ hrs and have no intention of doing so unless I see some evidence of degradation. The tractor is stored inside so not left out in the sun and weather, if that makes a difference.

Thanks for all of the replies, good to see no one is jumping at replacing all of those hoses at 400 hrs.

Regarding the secondary filter, the BX2680 had a Fleetguard AF25550 installed when I purchased it used. I replaced it once before with the same filter. The AF25550 has a matching Fleetguard secondary. This filter also crosses to a Baldwin, Wix, and Donaldson, and all of these radial seal filters have a matching secondary. From what I read, if you use a secondary, it should be from the same manufacturer as the primary.

The only question I see is whether the MAHLE filter housing has an inlet tube that is the correct ID. The secondary filter OD looks to fit into the inlet tube while the primary seals to the inlet tube's OD.

I stopped by my local Fleetpride to pick up the AF25550 Fleetguard. They didn't have one in stock, but had the Baldwin, so I got that one. Rock Auto had the Baldwin secondary for about $12, so I added one to my order. I figured I'd try it and see if it works.

I did call Messick's about a secondary air filter for the BX2680, their response was no, not for that model.

I'll post back when I get the Baldwin secondary and whether it works.
