Hello everyone,

Newbie here and was hoping I could get a little advice on how to hopefully fix a problem with my PTO without having to ship it to a dealer for repair.

What I know:
Last year when I engaged the drive it would take a minute or so prior to actually engaging. The longer the season went on the longer the take up would take so at the end of the season it was approxiametly 5 min. Additionally, once it started I would need to let the mower run for 5 minutes or so prior to dropping it on grass to start mowing. If I didn't, then it would just come to a stop. This year no matter how long I wait it will not engage at all.

Sound like either the clutch is bad? or perhaps a valve or pump?

I believe the pump for the pto also drives the transmission so I am thinking its not that.

What I have done:
Replaced hydraulic fluid with UDT then flushed out and refilled with super UDT. Replaced Filter, opened catch screen and cleaned (it was pretty much spotless no debris).
Checked switches, when I engage PTO if I get off of my seat tractor dies. Tried all combinations of front, back and combined settings not change.

Any help with next steps would be greatly appreciated. I am fairly competent with a wrench and have as of today ordered both the WSM and the parts manual.

thanks in advance,

Jim

There's a pressure regulator on the right hand side near the filter that your WSM will cover. Also a good idea to check pump GPM. Only was inside a newer BX for a PTO failure once, on a 2660, the seals had been damaged
