Just noticed this leak yesterday. Never leaked there before. Checked the gear oil. While down a little bit, it only took about a cup of gear oil to bring it back up to mid point on the dipstick. That entire side of the axle seems a bit "wet" from oil, top to bottom. Other side of front axle is dry and clean. First time I removed the dipstick, there was quite a bit of positive pressure. So, I wonder what could be the cause. Any ideas? Thanks

Common problem…my BX25D has been leaking for years. A while back someone suggested putting 90 at gear oil in there and it slowed down somewhat.

I figure that much. Just wondering what Kubota would charge to repair. I normally use 80-90 gear oil, but I think the last service at Kubota dealer, they used the UDT stuff. Machine is due for a checkup before "winter" anyway, I might just have to bite the bullet....
It seems to have stopped/slower down. I wonder if the positive pressure in the axle (popped out when I pulled the dipstick out) had something to do with pushing out more oil.

There is a fix on YouTube but it’s quite involved

I would remove the vent/oil level plugs on top of the wheel gear boxes and check that there is oil up there. When servicing the axle, the plugs have to be out or otherwise there will be trapped air in the gear boxes that can expand. My tractor came with a very low level of oil in the front axle. The dealer sold me the 80-90 gear oil and I topped it off with that, first on the gear boxes and then I capped them. Finished adding the oil through the dipstick hole to reach the proper level.

Looks similar to my BX23s 'weeping'. Not a big deal though you need strong, angled snap ring pliers for the task. Probably got some 'grit' under a seal. If caught early, just needs cleaning otherwise replace seal and maybe the O-ring.
