I have a 2005 BX2230 w/ front end loader and mower deck that has a leaking left rear axle seal. I am wanting to know the complexity of replacing this seal. It appears the right side would be much easier. Also, please comment as to whether it is recommended to take on the repair in my personal shop.
I appreciate any comments and suggestions.

Rear axle seals are major undertaking. Before you start check to make sure it is actually the seal leaking and not the seal housing.

I have a 2003 BX2200. I found the seals were fine the housing was leaking.
I did not have to tear down the tractor to repair.

I removed the tire. Drained the transmission. Then pulled the housing from the axle a couple of inches. Then cleaned the axle and housing with brake cleaner on a rag. Then applied a thin bead of red RTV and pressed the housing back into the axle. Let it dry for 24 hours.
Problem solved.

Good luck. Seems it is a little early in the life of your tractor to have the seals go bad.
