Hi Everyone,

I appreciate how everyone shares their information and experience.

I have a 2003 BX2200 with 1187 hrs. When working in short areas the steering works fine but when driving straight for extended distances (100ft) there is considerable free play in the steering as in one full rotation of the steering wheel before it responds.

Am I looking at a rebuild of the control valve or is this a different problem?

Thanks for any advice.

Dave

Dave I had this problem also It came on gradualy but I noticed it the most when I was on the road going to my brothers place about a eighth mile from my place. I had it done at a shop turned out it was the hydrolic cylinder though there was no leak.

The answer is in the forums. At the top of the page, click on the ( Search ) icon, type in "bx steering" , without the quotation marks and all the posts of this problem will come up. It's a relatively easy fix.

Murphy, it may be a bad cylinder but, it's most likely just a shrunk seal. . If he has an auto transmission shop close, he may be able to get the seals from them for free. That's where I got mine. I know one of them was from a Chrysler rwd trans. They'll hand him a box of extra left over seals and say, "see if one of those will work" . May be able to get some from a hydralic place. They're just o rings.

I understand.

In principle the fluid, fluid pressure, is passing through the cylinder, de-pressurizing each side of the cylinder. That's why it takes a full turn of the wheel to build pressure back up and actuate the cylinder.

I do not own a BX...........just stated my past experience...........and not all cylinders in all applications are serviceable.

Re: BX2200 Power Steering Cylinder Repair

Good Morning Forum
I have a similar problem with my 2003 BX 2200 steering. I read from the forums that it appears most likely tobe from the cylinder seals. I have talked to a hydraulic shop regarding rebuild and they advised to bring it in and pickup a rebuild kit from Kubota. They feel there is no second guesses on the seals, ring, ect. The questions I have are here other places to get the seal kits since Kubota since they want $35.00 for the kit, and removing the cylinder from the front of the tractor.
I am sure it is metric bolts and nuts. What sizes of sockets, will I need and removing the tie rod end appears to have a castle nut. Will removing the cotter key and just a socket remove the end nut or will I need some way to hold the top of the threaded end? Do they make replacement rubber boots for the tie rods or d will I need to replace the entire end link?
Thanks in advance for all the good info.
