BX2200-LA211 Hydraulic Leak Under Chassis

Suddenly I have hydraulic fluid dripping from the protective plate underneath the tractor. There are two rubber lines that travel from the front to the rear of the tractor, between the engine and skid plate so I cannot see the exact location of the leak. It is dripping off the front and rear of the plate as well from the hole that is in the middle of the plate?

I went on to the Kubota website parts finder but did not see the diagram of the area.

Does anyone have any subject matter expertise with this area of the tractor? Are those lines hydraulic lines that connect the front loader to the rear mechanism?

Gerry K.

FYI - I posted this earlier but I do not see it so I am posting again. Mods please delete if it is a duplicate.

Wish I could help, mine was doing that and I had t take it to the dealer who replaced a hydraulic line, required him to take the platform off.

As TripleR states, it is a leak under the floorboard. It is a VERY common occurrence on the BX and other sites have several posts about it.

In order to get to it you have to take of the seat, fenders, and floorboard. The left rear tire also should be removed to get to the hydraulic pump.

A replacement set of hoses or a single hose can be ordered from Kubota or you can have a local shop make up a replacement. The local shop may use heavier materials.

One disadvantage to heavier materials is that the hose is tight in some areas and doesn't fit as well as OEM.

Then there is hooking up the hose ends. One end hooks up to the hydraulic pump by the left rear tire and the other hooks up behind the dashboard. Both are very tight fits.

Good luck. If you need more advice just ask. Some of us have done the replacement ourselves.

Edit: To answer specifically, those leaking lines are to the power steering. The FEL lines are mainly metal.

Try Messick's for a parts diagram. They will send you one by email with part numbers. Once you find out which line is leaking you can just replace that one.

I have the tractor apart. I took off the hood. The battery cover. Then the plate that allows access below the floorboard. The hydraulic lines have a fastener to the chassis which I also removed. FYI - VERY EASY ACCCESS. (I was concerned when I went to the other sight referenced in this thread and they detailed what needed to be done. It was not difficult at all.)

What I have found - It appears as thought the leak is coming from the Power Steering Lines (part #'s 41530 & 41540). Basically from the steering wheel (input/output) to the rear of the tractor. I say "appears" because the two hoses have a TUBE GUARD that covers both hoses. Therefore I do not know which hose is leaking.

QUESTION
Has anyone else experienced this type of issue in their tractor before?

Next steps - I plan on removing them and see if I can have them tested to determine which one is leaking, and then replace that hose.

The dealer says they do not carry Kubota hoses and suggested that I bring the hose in and they will make the replacement hose.

That reinforced sleeve is a pain. What you can do is to remove the lines from the pump (near the left rear wheel), slide off the sleeve, and reattach the two lines to the pump.

Clean up the lines and area with solvent (mineral spirits or even diesel) and start the tractor. The leak should then be obvious. It is probably the pressure line rather than the return line but one never knows until it is directly observed.

If the hoses are relatively inexpensive at the dealership then you could just replace them both. Their quality may be better than OEM. However, the reinforced sleeve might not fit over both hoses on reassembly.

I went to a local NAPA auto parts that makes hydraulic lines and they were able to match the length. However, the hose was much thicker in diameter.

Usually several shops in a medium sized town make hydraulic hoses if the dealership is trying to "hose" you! :D :D

Has this site been down? No access for the last week or so.

Regarding outside diameter of hoses. Had the same problem. Small town hose shops tend to sell what they have, not what you need.

Go to a real hose shop in industrial area and get the correct size hose and end-fittings. Makes life so much easier. Older Kubotas used 2-wire reinforcement but currently will find upgraded later 4-wire hoses at only a millimeter or so larger outside diameter.

Too, invest in a set of hydraulic service wrenches with oddly-angled heads and a set of Craftsman (for best price) flare-nut crow-foot ratchet-drive wrenches. You'll have them forever and when you need them nothing else will work.
