I am having an issue with the steering on my bx1800. It seems to not want to turn the wheels all the time. Sometimes it just feels sloppy but today for a short time it would not work at all. I have noticed on other sites that this is a common problem with this unit. Looks like it is a bad steering cylinder. Some people have said that there was a recall on this part but I don't know if there is any truth to this. Has anyone else dealt with this? I am no expert on hydraulics so should I just remove this part and replace with a new one?

I had the same issue. Mine was the steering piston. The bolts that hold the piston had come loose and several bolts were missing. Good luck

It's the seals in the steering piston on the front of the frame. I think the cylinder seal kit form Kubota is around $80. You don't even have to buy that. All it needs is 2 o rings in the center of the shaft. A little hard to get apart but easy to fix after that. I replace those 2 o rings on mine several months ago and it's been working good ever since.

Kubota dealer says these can be hard to disassemble. For them to rebuild it if I remove and bring in to them maybe $150.00 labor plus $30.00 for the kit, or to buy a new one would be around $235.00.
