Hello everyone, 2nd post, just purchased a BX1500 with FEL and Curtis cab. Looking to purchase a Land Pride RCR 1542 rotary mower. It's the smallest they offer, anyone have experience with this set up, will it work. LP says min 15 hp. Just want to make sure it'll work. This Saturday is tax free in MA so I plan to make the purchase if it'll work out. Thanks in advance.

It will depends of your speed and how high it is you want to cut. I wouldn't mind about 1 or 2 HP more or less. Go for it, it will do the job.

I appreciate it, I plan on purchasing the bush hog on Saturday, just want to make sure it'll work with the 15hp. Love the tractor so far. Anyone actually have a similar setup?

Not to be a PITA, but does anyone have experience with a BX1500 and rear 42" rotary mower? I'm gonna buy it Saturday and just want to make sure it'll work. If someone has experience, it'll be appreciated.

That may be a little much hog for your unit. If you do not use it every day for a full days you may get by.
When you are running it go ahead and throttle up to the rpms indicated for the proper PTO rpm, I think yours' is 3600, there's a mark on the tachometer. Then only move as fast as will allow the revs to stay up there. Watch your temperature. In really heavy grass you may have to make two passes, first pass with the cutter at about 11 inches, then the 2nd pass at the desired height. You can also make 1/2 passes after the first 1, meaning try not to make a full width cut if the grass is heavy and the engine is bogging, cut with only 1/2 or 3/4 of the cutter width. Cut more often if it means cutting easier.

I use a King kutter xb 48" rotary brush hog behind my Bx 1500. Overall does a pretty good job just don't be in too big of a hurry.
