I ordered a front end loader for my BX1870. I want to use a bucket and forks so I would like a quick attach feature.

According to the Kubota dealer, I will have to buy a coupler (quick attach) and a NEW bucket, made to QA, because the stock bucket will not quick attach.

So, the factory bucket becomes junk and Kubota won’t sell the FEL without a bucket.

Seems like a waste of about $900 on my part.

What have forum followers found to be the best route?

I purchased SSQA adapter plate from Everything attachments ($600?), it arrived in about a week. Purchased SSQA bucket from local dealer, was around $300, sold pin on bucket locally for about $150.

If I am reading correctly you already have the BX1870? If so and you didn't order the SSQA set up when buying originally then you are correct, you have a pin on bucket that you can sell or put plants in. The time to do the SSQA is at purchase of the tractor.

Kubota did make a quick attach adapter for the pin-on bucket, not SSQA. Don’t know if they still offer it though. Ai2 products makes a quick attach adapter also.

On my BX24, I welded handles to the pins and replaced the bolts that retain the pins with linch pins. I can swap between the bucket and forks in a couple minutes or less.

The BX was recently purchased and came with nothing on the front. I have to buy the FEL and I guess it comes stock, with pins. Such a waste of money and I think Kubota should offer the QA immediately with a new purchase.

Since I don’t have the FEL, I don’t know what I’m looking at here.

Did you make the fork rack? How has the square tube held up at the 90 degree weld? I know it has to lift about 600 pounds max.

A Kubota dealer said there is a way to use the stock bucket on the FEL by cutting off some tabs and welding on something and then I can use QA.

Can someone explain this or refer me to a thread in the forum where I can see how this is done?

I would check around at a different dealer. You should be able to buy a FEL with SSQA all set up and not have to modify a pin on loader.

That doesn't sound correct..... maybe the DEALER is doing that NOT Kubota Crop., try another, though I suspect you'e already got the bucket......

Maybe I should start a new thread.

There is no info about options of the LA203A loader on the net, which is for the BX 1870.

I have to rely on known facts here or through my dealer.

According to the dealer, I have to buy a coupler and a new bucket. This seems ridiculous that Kubota doesn't offer the QA right from the start.

Then there is discussion about the bucket being forward and limiting its usefulness.

So, unless opinions are given, there is nothing much I can decide on.

Here is some videos for you to illustrate the different possibilities.

SSQA on a pre BX 80 tractor:

AI2 Quick-tach system installation for pre BX80 tractor using pin-on bucket:

AI2 Quick-tach bucket or implement hook up:

I am using the AI2 Quick-tach on my BX1880 with the pin on bucket because I could use a 48" Land Pride Grapple. This was due to lighter weight on the FEL and storage limitations. The SSQA is inherently heavier and all the grapples are 54" wide. I am also using the pin on version of Redline's 36" pallet fork system. Obviously, the SSQA system offers many more options when it come to attachments. However, the BX FEL system lifting capability is very limited compared to larger tractors which makes most heavy attachments unusable.
