BX power loss

I searched which is why I think this may be my issue but I'm looking for clarification. The other day I ran out of fuel in my bx. I filled it up and since doing so, it wants to stall out quite often. At first it would do it as soon as I engaged the transmission after hiccuping a few times it would be ok but when put under load it would almost stall and buck. It did stall once. Now it bogs down and has little power. Is this characteristic of air in the system? Maybe I need to bleed it?
It was running fine prior to this. I can't trust the fuel gauge it seems.

The bx has a fairly common issue with rust developing around fuel solenoid and causing all sorts of fuel flow issues including blocking the port where the fuel flows out of the tank

The system automatically bleeds after filter changes etc. As mention there are several things that can cause this from clogged filters, clogged line or tank outlet, you just need to troubleshoot. I like to try a bit of conditioner and diesel Heet in fresh fuel first. Then try blowing pressurized air back into the tank, new filters and if all that fails pull the tank and check it.

The last time, my outlet had grass clogging it from when someone apparently left the fuel cap off.

Damn. Was hoping it was simple. May still be I hope. I'll start from the tank and work my way forward.
Thanks.

Yeppers fuel change the filters BOTH of them,, and while you are at it drain the tank in to a can, then see if you can see down inside the tank,, there has been more than one june bug and leaves and pine needles and stuff found blocking the fuel outlet,, Have no idea how that stuff gets in there but it do

Lots of good suggestions based on the history of the BX. However, I would start with the obvious. If it was running good before you ran out of fuel I would at least try bleeding the fuel system. If bleeding doesn't help then move on to the fuel tank and filters.

The best I remember from my book and family members who can't read a fuel gauge, "bleeding" is simply turning the key on and letting the pump run for about thirty seconds before rotating to start, always works on ours. It's not like on the bigger tractors.

I have never had to test this, so I have a question. If you get the tractor running will it purge the air while running, or do you need to run the electric fuel pump alone to purge the air. The way the manual reads if you are having trouble with air and running poorly you need to go through the 30 second purge.

Yes, my wife never bothers doing what the manual says and she does fine, it just seems to stumble a bit if you don't do the purge first

Just for the record, I know how to read a gas gauge. But it's obviously not working if it reads half full when its empty!
I'll check filters and the rest and report back.

I just reread the thread and it suggests another question. When it stopped and the tank showed half full, was the tank empty and the gauge wrong or was the tank half full and the fuel system plugged?
If the tank was empty the 30 second air purge may still help.
If the the tank was half full, or the air purge doesn't work then all the suggestions on fuel filters, fuel pickup, and cleaning the tank are the way to go.

Wanted to update on this.
I narrowed it down to the seat switch. I forgot to mention that I had an issue with the "universal" seat snapping screws that the previous owner had installed. I had to fabricate a new bracket and it appears that there is a slight rocking motion in the track which is affecting the cutoff switch.
I figured it had to be something along those lines b/c the bucking I was experiencing was only occurring when I put it in drive.
So, an easy fix. On to the next issue of warn hubs...
