BX for only mowing

I tried something like that with my BX2360 on my hill. About 2500 pound log on my 600 pound arch. Made it halfway up, had to use 4wd and all of a sudden started going uncontrollably backwards with the wheels spinning forward. Luckily a tree stopped me as everything was turning sideways. Takes weight to pull weight on a hill.

Certainly true. Traction is also important. If it rained I let things dry out for at least a day, knowing it would be futile to try with slippery ground.

I use four-wheel-drive all the time myself since I don’t have any pavement.

The only time I had an experience like you described was on wet grass. Not fun. And I wasn’t pulling anything!

Gentlemen,

When my legacy was newish, it pulled a 2004 for ranger off a rock is was hung up on. I pulled a lot with it. I can't tell you how much of a night and day difference it was when I bought my b8200. This winters show.... My garden tractor with 8" of wet snow was a tough job. The Kubota, went through it in a snap. An hour job now takes 10 minutes. Remember to a bx1500 vs bx2200? Few more hp.

Keep looking for what you want. Up here in snow country, the time to buy lawn mowing machinery
is when the snow is on the ground and the salespeople & dealerships are hungry.

I've looked since last fall for the "right" BX for mowing only. This one started at $10,800 (USA) last summer, and the price dropped significantly as the snow got deeper and sub zero weather arrived.

I went and looked at it in person about the first of February, and the machine was a one owner, all the service & maintenance done, at a great price. The only problem with the machine that I observed was the tachometer was inoperative. I looked it over very carefully, as I do my own repairs and maintenance.

That turned into an issue, the dealership had some difficulty diagnosing the inoperative tachometer.
With a bit of assistance, they figured it out and replaced the instrument cluster at their expense.
I'm almost certain the tachometer worked when the machine was traded in back in June, 2024.
Sitting outside in the dealership yard for close to eight months certainly wasn't good for the instrument cluster.

It's a 2013 BX 2370 with 361 hours on the machine and it came with the 60" deck.
I've got some light surface rust/missing paint on the deck in a few places that will need springtime attention, wire brushing/sanding/painting. I'm very happy with the condition of the BX 2370.
It was delivered yesterday.

So the machine you are looking for, it's out there someplace, you just need to look diligently,
and when you find the one you want, buy it.

The loader equipped machine is a 2011 BX25, and the backhoe sits inside the building on a rolling cart.

I’ve been looking, but not getting my hopes up. Down here in Georgia, we are starting into mowing season, so prices are going to go up. If you don’t mind, what did you pay for that?

Kinda forgot about this thread. I ended up picking up a 1850 that the owner stated was overheated, more on that later, for $800 and a ~4 hr road trip.

Got it home. And tore in.



Freeze plug let go, dumping coolant into oil, causing the overheat.


Dropped it back in yesterday.

Took a test drive with the boy this evening.
I’m pretty ecstatic I was able to repair. The PO also included the deck that’s in good shape as well as all new front end plastics.

We rode around a good bit, letting it come up to temp. Multiple shutdowns and restarts. Tested all functions,3pt goes up and down(very slow up if at all at idle), both PTO’s spin, diff lock works, high and low works as well as 4wd. The HST fan is still in good shape too.
Gotta baseball game today, afterwards gonna see what it takes to hang the deck after some fresh fluid and blade sharpening and try to cut some grass if able.

Forgot to add the pictures/work are over a 6 month period. Tractor came home in April. And summer happened. It definitely stayed apart longer than I intended.

Hot damn boys! Checked gearbox oil, had some. Needs blades and a belt, but it cuts! Even got the supervisor to take a lap.

I’ll probably give it a full service just to have a starting point and throw a few little pieces it needs, mainly a radiator screen. Steering is very wondery too.
Can not explain how excited I am with this gamble.
