BX 2660 engine oil filling locations

Hi I was wondering what the purpose of having 2 oil cap openings is used for? Is it a seperate system that doesn't use engine oil?

Engine used in a different application might require a different cap location. Both my M9's have a fill cap on the valve cover and one on the lower side of the block. The valve cover location is not accesable at all.,
