I have a 3 week old BX23S with an issue on my second use where the mower deck hydralic mower deck raising lever will not raise the deck. can anyone help.

I looked at the yellow oil dipstic near the backhoe and it does not need seem to be reqristering fluid when running or off....could the dealer not filled this when they sent it to me. The back hoe works although I have not dug anything yet and the loader seems to work although I have not stressed it :confused:yet. Ideas?

Have you gotten underneath and checked to see if all of the linkage is connected?

Before you take it apart, find the PTO drop speed knob. It is right under the seat beside the mower height adjustment. At the closed position it locks the mower deck in position. Put it in the middle to eliminate this feature from engaging.

My dealer showed me this on the initial delivery, saying he got a lot of calls on mower deck not raising or lowering. I'm sure I would have been another call for him had he not done the demo.

The knob thats being referred to is by the heal of your right foot that controls the speed of the hydralic lift plus when turned all the way one way locks the hydralics in the up postion.

thank you yes found the knob. The deck is in the down position and I cannot get it up. My dealer replied to my email today and he said to tunr the knob toward tyhe arrow and try that did nothing

It's not the one with TOP on it. That is the mower cutting height adjustment. To the right of that one is a slightly smaller knob that is mostly parallel to the floorboard. It has a lever looking symbol and a curved arrow. This is the PTO drop speed control. At one end of it's travel it will lock your mower deck and prevent it from raising or lowering.

Try putting this one in the middle of it's movement range. It is pretty stiff to turn, but make sure it is in the middle of it's range. The full open setting will allow your deck to fall quickly, the closed setting will not allow deck movement. Look at your owners manual on page 18, foot and hand controls, item 3.

If you are sitting in the seat and looking down between your legs it is the one to the right of the mower cutting height adjustment.

Since you have the backhoe mounted testing the three point for movement will not show you anything. You do not have your three point hitch installed.

Another thing to check is the PTO selector. Sitting at your seat, look at the levers on the left. The lever furthest to the left determines which PTO position operates. This lever should be in the rearmost position. There is a symbol of a tractor with a gear under it at that position, indicating the mower deck. This lever in the mid position operates both PTO position and if the lever is in the forward position it operates the rear PTO only. To me this is a bit confusing, but it is the standard way of Kubota controls. This is explained on page 45 of the manual.

I hope this helps. I was quite intimidated learning what all the knobs and levers did at first and I operate very large machinery for a living!

The belly mower is raised by a linkage connected to the 3pth at the rear. Since the backhoe is on, the 3pth hitch gear will not be attached, but the lift arms for the 3pth will be there. Check to make sure these lift arms are not prevented from raising by the backhoe. They could be hitting the backhoe foot platform from underneath, stopping them and your belly mower from raising.

I think its more underneath than out back off 3pt. My back hoe on and no 3pt hardware on the deck still raises.

My B had the linkage from lower arms that would be directly operated by 3pt hitch. So those arms had to stay on or deck wouldnt move.

If you are not seeing fluid on the dipstick get some SUDT fluid in it before running it any more. It should easily show up on the stick. Then check all your hydraulic connections for leaks. There are plenty of new BX23S owners reporting loose connections leaking after as few as 4 hrs and tgen finding the connections loose and leaking. I had it happen on mine after 6 hrs, luckily I saw it leaking while running the hoe before it got too low.
