Well I replaced the clutch cable and here is a what I experienced. (I did not drop the fuel tank)
Be sure to remove the clutch and brake linkages to allow the room needed to access and loosen the cable mount nuts. Two stubby 14 mm open end wrenches will be useful because it is a tight fit to get both hands in the space. Put the yolk end (from old cable) on first and attach using the pin, washer and cotter pin. Attach the mounted section of the cable and tighten the nuts. Be patient on this part because it is frustrating due to the confined space.
Then attach the inside portion of the clutch cable to the clutch pedal and adjust as necessary. Hint: tie a pull string to the old cable when pulling it out. This will help when pulling the new clutch cable. If you have x-large hands the installation could be difficult unless you drop the fuel tank.
Hope this helps someone.
