Wondering others thought on this particular lubricant, specifically. For use on cables.

What other uses (Tractor related) have you used it for?

CLP is what the gov used for years. The BreakFree part was added for civilians.

Been using it for the last 25 years or so on guns. No clue how it would do as a cable lube, but I'm sure it won't hurt.

I was an Armorer. I have both the vintage CLP (3/4ths gallon) and probably a gallon of BF CLP.

(off topic) As well as (grandpa was a machinist) 1/2 gallon of original WD40, and 2 gallons of vintage Marvel Mystery Oil.

Not the same stuff it was 10 years ago. I used it alot in the army the new stuff smells way different. When you had 20 dudes cleaning weapons in a room that smell of breakfree was unmistakable

^^Right!^^
They called it CLP in the Gov back in the 80's. I found it years later labelled BreakFree CLP.
I don't know if it changed but it might have. I use it still.
My pops used Ballistol on guns, which had an unique smell. I have some and when I use it, it reminds me of my Dad.
Anyway, unless they changed it, CLP or BreakFree is very good at cleaning, lubing, and preserving firearms. I have better function on semi firearms with CLP, than I do with Ballistol. But I use Ballistol on single action, bolt, or pump guns. Cuz of my Dad.
For cables on motorcycles, I use WD40.

I'll have a chat with my youngest son, he recently got out of the Marine Corps.
E5. I'll see if CLP is still the Gov cleaner-lube-preserver for the latest FN and HK stuff they're slinging.

I think it is.
