Bought a bb5516 for my l2502 is this right???

So I went to pick up my landplane the other day and felt it wasnt built to how I felt it should've been, and wanted to check out boxblades since I was there, and felt equally unimpressed with the 12 series of boxblades and was not a fan of the scarcifier clips, so asked to look at the 15 series which I did like so after the thoughts on what to and what not to do, I decided on the landpride bb1566 since my tractors 61" wide from outer lugs... dealer was trying to sell me on the 60 inch model but wanted to cover my tracks and said the tractor was designed to run the 60"... am I wrong for ignoring his advice and going after the 66" box blade? What's everyone's take on it? I know its only 6 inches

I think you made a good choice. Your L2502 won't have any problems with that box blade under normal use. Obviously more hp/weight pulling the same implement allows for more severe use, but that's the name of the game here. So did you pick up a land plane too?

By the way, is the rear track width adjustable on your L via the wheels (two piece I assume), and if so, where's it currently set?

I ran a 72" on my 2501, no issues if I paid attention. Somewhere in the manual it tells you max implement size.

I ended up holding off on the land plane, after alot of back and forth in my head I decided I still dunno what im doing I still want one and its on my list but backed out the day it was due to be delivered once I realized the 72 was really 78inches wide and the 60 was 65ish wide and I gotta figure out what im doing since im overwhelmed at this point as a rookie, my driveways only 96 inches wide and feel the 60 might be better but will it cover my tracks? Too much going on decision wise... I just gotta stay on this forum and keep reading!!! As far as wheels go i don't know where their set to, I know every dealer I've scoped out for the last 2 years has had them set at the same distance so I am unsure if there's a standard setting for the r4's? I felt the box blade was easier to make a decision on so I cut a check and am now waiting on my free delivery as they hate letting the customer pull away without an in home demo so they push free delivery very strong!

It seems in polls that have been previously posted on this forum it was an even split between 5 and 6ft on what people felt as an appropriate size but for some reason Noone really voted for the 5.5 ft... do you by any chance remember what the recommended max size was for your 2501? I know landpride has what series there equipment fits or is recommend for but when it just says l series, is that the 25hp or larger??? I dunno

I do not, and no longer have the manual.

It should be fine although you may need to adjust to a different angle than the 60. Land Pride site has size recommendations for their implements.

I’ll ad on your L2501 with R4’s good chance the rear tires cannot be adjusted with the rims.
They can be adjusted with wheel spacers.

Is there a way you could rent a box blade or land plane? Or if your neighbor has one let him show you how to use it on your driveway. Offer to pay him for time etc. They are tough but I wouldn’t lend out my equipment.

I’ll say a box blade is more useful overall and usually cheaper. Where as a land plane is great for driveway maintenance, so I’ve read.

Be careful reading this forum. You’ll end up with a box blade, land plane, rear blade, and hydraulic top n tilt. Not that that’s a bad thing.
