Hello, I am new here, quick question. 1981 Kubota B7100HST-D. Just bought it and the steering box works fine, no noise or slop. (A little slop in the top rubber bushing, just ordered one)

I went to change the fluid and the box was full of water, it had been sitting outside and not used for some time. I drained the box, filled it with ATF, cranked wheel side to side and drained. Repeated, then filled with 80-90.
I got no rust or debris out of it.

Wondering if I will be good with just the new top bushing and cleaning the weep hole or if more needs to be done?

My thought was since it didnt seem rusty, I flushed it out, there is not noise and no slop in rotating or up and down with the wheel that it might have been done it time to prevent damage to the bearings.

???

Thanks,
Jason

I would disassemble the steering box and check the bearings. The one on the bottom of the steering box will rust and once the balls are pitted they will fail. I bought one of my B7100's about 2 years ago and the box was full of water like yours. It seemed fine. However I disassembled it and found the cage on the bottom bearing to be rusted almost totally away. It is a relatively easy job to disassemble and check. If you let the bearing fail the parts to fix the steering box are very expensive.
