Got the tractor split and removed the rear main seal cover to replace it while it was apart. Ordered the new RMS # 19215-04460 and popped the old one out. Got the new seal today and it is too large outside diameter and does not fit tight around the crank. Did this part change or something?

Help

I also marked the flywheel before removing but in the cleaning process removed my sharpee marks. Anyone got any ideas on putting it back on correctly? I assume since it will bolt up in any position that it would not matter but the timing marks would be useless in the future. Any help on this also appreciated.

Also, would you use the black rtv on new gaskets when reinstalling or just use the gasket? Oil pan, etc

thanks.

I don't know about the seal, that IS the correct PN. The flywheel will only bolt on the correct way ( the bolts are slightly offset) And sure I'd use a little RTV on those gaskets! Be sure to replace both of the gaskets behind that seal retainer.

Thanks Ed, they must be really close and I will look at it again tomorrow. I have worked with old Jeep CJ's for years and they will only go on one way but it is pretty noticable. I alsways use a dab of sealant even to hold the seal in place and yes, replacing both inner gaskets.

This seal thing is wierd, the new seal sent has an out diameter of 83.10mm and the old one has a diameter of 79.81 so there is a difference. I have two motors and one of the old seals has a part # AH3316P stamped on it. Both old seals are the same size but the new one is larger. BigOrange is calling Kubota tomorrow morning to find out. He said they just got the new seals in in Dec with no complaints yet.

thanks!

I describe the way I realigned the flywheel on my L175 here Goto the bottom of the page and then go back up to the 3rd picture from the bottom.

Don't have a clue about the seal size though. I had a similar problem with my steering shaft and it's bearings and I'm going to have to give it a pass through the lathe to make it fit.

Good Luck!

Where would the serial number be on the D750 block? My original motor has # 834963 on the decal on the side of the front end next to the tractor model/serial#.

Ok, Vic opened a new can of worms with the seal # 09560-00007.

I called BOParts and gave him the number and he called Kubota with both the seal numbers and they pulled the parts and measured. The part Vic gave me measured the 3 1/8 outside diameter and will fit in the housing and also has a 2 1/2 inside diameter for my shaft.

After tearing the both engines down I found out something that may show the difference.

Here is the current engine crank and the seal housing. Notice two things: one the crank has like a 3/16 sleeve pressed on it and the housing has DH850 stamped on top. The original seal # 09215-04460 is the same size as this one.

Now here is the replacement engine. Note two things: No sleeve on crank and the housing does not have DH850 stamped on it but on the bottom it has Z600-C.

Does this make sense to anyone? I ordered the seal 00007 Vic stated on the change and it should work.

Re: B7100 HST rear main seal replacement/part wrong?RESOLVED

Well after some searching I found out that the B6100 series used this same motor and pulled the parts manual and sure enough it uses the smaller rear main seal # 09650-00007 that I have on mine. The two retainer gaskets are the same on both models. I just wonder why the sleeve pressed on one engine and another size rear main seal.

Anyway part is on the way.
