Thanks to the tips I got here, replacing my rear axle seal was an easy job.
Taking lsmurphy's advice, I used 2 sheet metal screws to pull the seal and 76 Bronco was right, a lot more oil gooped out. I cleaned the axle, wrapped it with saran wrap, took the new seal out of the fridge and carefully installed it with a piece of 2" PVC. No runs, no drips, no errors.
