Hi all,

Looked many places and could not find much information on what splitter would work well on the back of my B3200. Ended up going out on a limb and buying the County Line 3 point splitter offered by Tractor Supply Center.

Only glitch was that I had the outlet and return on the hydraulics reversed, easy fix. If the upload works I am attaching video that shows the splitter in action, tractor at 1200 RPM splitting green black walnut.

Like it so far!!

Nice set up! I'm waiting for their 5 foot finish mower to come into the TSC near me.

That will make wood splitting much easier for you.

2222, I agree it is slow! If I was splitting to make $$ I would throttle the engine past a high idle or put a smaller cylinder on it. It does not lack power getting through the wood. I just split for cleaning up around my place and to provide wood for friends campfires. Coop

Wouldn't it be better to run the engine at a higher RPM? If I am not mistaken, the engine should be run between 2500 and 3000 RPM for the best performance. Running at the higher RPM would be better for the engine as well as the log splitter. I could be wrong, but that is what I have read in several places.

lifer,

You are probably correct, I was playing with it when I first installed it. That's when the video was shot. According to the tach 2500 rpm gives the mower the correct rpms. Bet that may be the sweet spot and should be twice as fast.

The cycle time is based on your tractors flow rate. So if your getting 5 GPM for a flow rate and the log splitter is a 20 ton (4 x 24 cylinder), then your average cycle time would be like 28 seconds.

12 ton which is a 3 x 18 cylinder would give you about a 15 second cycle time.

Of course you could go the PTO driven way where it has an external pump and self contained then you can get a good fast speed.

We sell all sizes and configurations of 3pt log splitters that are fabricated in the USA. If you have questions or need advice feel free to call me. Thanks, Mike
