I am new, so I apologize if this has been asked many times. I did a thread search and did not find exactly what I was looking for.
I have a B26. It is about 10 years old and only has 500 hours.
Recently noticed that the 3 point would not lift an implement. Here is what I have discovered:
If the tractor is at idle the three-point will not go up. If the tractor is throttled around 2000 RPM the three-point will lift; However, it will not lift against any significant resistance. If I am standing on the hitch it will not lift my body weight.
The right hand lift arm has a feedback pin that rotates and is connected to a feedback rod. The feedback pin had rusted and seized up in the lift arm. Now, every time the lift arm went up and down, it was bending the feedback rod. Eventually the feedback rod broke and failed. Apparently that has damaged the lift mechanism by overloading the hydraulic pressure. The stopper plate has a slight curve to it and according to the exploded diagrams, it appears to be flat. So I know the mechanism overextended itself.
My initial thought was that perhaps the rings around the cylinder had blown out and it was allowing hydraulic fluid to come around the cylinder. However, after I disassembled the mechanism, the cylinder and rings appear to be okay.
My thought now is that it could be that the control valve has been damaged. I am very hesitant to disassemble this valve. I have no experience with that.
My questions: Is this the most likely point of failure? If so, does anybody have any experience with this scenario? How difficult is this control valve to disassemble and repair? Or should I spent $700 and buy the new assembly?
Thanks to anybody who could help me with this problem.
