I noticed a large oil spot under the front of my tractor. I used it a little in the yard, hauling things from the garden; I then noticed the heat gauge was climbing. I ran it back up the hill and backed it into the garage. I then noticed some oil spots where oil had come out the left side panel vents. When I checked the oil, it showed full and the coolant was about an inch down in the plastic bottle.

I took it out of the garage to haul a bucket load of limbs I had cut into lengths, off a weeping willow tree. I shut it off while I loaded the limbs, when I drove it to where I dumped them. I noticed the heat gauge rising, so I put it back in the garage. I only drove the tractor a total of about 300 feet. It is a 2003 I bought new and has only 255 hours on it.

Only overheating I ever have is when I would cut grass and the radiator screens fill with pollen and I have to shut it off and clean them up and also the screen behind the radiator.

Try washing the radiator with a hose from both directions. You may be surprised what comes out from between the fins.

Do not use forceful stream as will bend fins. Use hose open-ended.

Wash from both front and back thoroughly.

Wash prescreen.

During mowing seasin install cheap $1 HVAC filter ahead of radiator and toss it when tractor starts to run warm.

Just to be safe check coolant for oil and also oil for milky water appearance.

Please post back and advise what you found and how resolved.
