Here is my version of a grill guard for my 4701. I had a couple close calls using my EA Wicked 72” grapple & wanted the maximum protection. After viewing the cooling system in the tractor, it is my belief that the fan will draw enough air to cool the radiator, without perforating the guard below the headlights. I will find out for sure in July (here in Kansas). There is clearance for tilting the brush guard. I thought about a chain bucket, but did not want to go under the FEL to get my chain.

Looks awesome…Very clean fab job from the picture…never have thought headlights do much good behind a bucket…they are just in the wrong place…looks like they may be half covered before the light makes it to the bucket. Do you use much at night?

Interesting design with the lack of perforations. Mine is still stock with the grill guard that would allow a phone pole to poke through, so I’ve considered modifying but haven’t yet. Seems the no perforations design would be ideal IF cooling remains adequate. Curious if you get adequate cooling in actual use?

I don’t do much after dark. When the sun gets on the horizon, I gather up my gear & head for the barn.
I agree on the headlights with loader. I will mount a light bar on the ROPS up high where it will light up more area. I would like to put a canopy on the tractor first. I have 242 acres & can be some distance from shelter. I’ve been soaked by the rain to many times when my meteorology fails me.

When the tractor was doing a “Parked Regen”, I held my hand in front of the plastic grill to check the movement of air. I could feel some, but not a huge amount. The screen in front of the radiator seems to fill with material down low leading me to believe there is air being drawn from around the cowling. Could be gravity, but I will continue to watch the temp gage. I have about 8 hours on the set up, & I will not hurt my tractor. The guard is removable & I can always make a “B” model with perforations.
The pic shows the guard in the powder coat oven.

I like mounting LEDs to the underside of a canopy. It’s a good idea to install the canopy first.

I understand your thread is about the grill guard…only point I would make about your comment on the light is light bar only good one direction. Light bar up top and little ones on the sides of the ROpS pointed reverse works well in my application. I have great forward and reverse lightning at night with the combo. I’d love a canopy and I was/am worried about interference with canopy…i trailer a lot…second property is 4hrs away…so lighting is first priority. I am afraid to do a canopy…not sure they are speed rated. 😂.

My dealer installed a steel canopy on my tractor and delivered it to my place (5 hours drive). This unit will handle being transported at highway speeds and it’s reasonably priced.

Is that front forward in the trailer?

This canopy looks very nice & well built. Is the black square under the orange painted metal, made of metal as well? It appears to be a frame, a stiffener, then the painted metal cap.
Thanks for sharing!

It is actually a heavy felt pad that reduces noise and vibrations. The canopy is simple: a painted steel top, steel frame and brackets, and heavy felt liner. It survived the transport at highway speeds. I like it. As an added bonus, I was able to use the steel frame to attach my LED lights.

Yes. Facing forward. If you were concerned you could back the tractor onto the trailer. My dealer delivered my tractor with the canopy installed and the trip was 5 hours.

I happened to be on my farm at twilight. I switched on the headlights & I think there is enough light getting thru the holed pattern to be just fine. I will not run into anything if out after dark. I love it when a plan works out.
