Searching drill town for 20 minutes for the correct size bit for a 6-32 tap.
no gots....

Should I go smaller with a 3/32 or bigger with a 7/64th?

whats worse? a loose hole or a snapped off tap?

haven't given up yet...

still searching for a #36

Yeah, trying to find correct tap at multiple stores can be frustrating.

One of my best tool purchases ( at a pawn shop) was a large Craftsman tap & die set. 70+ pieces, was brand new, and paid $50 for it 20+ years ago. STD 4/40 to 1/2" and Metric 1mm to 12mm, plus a couple small pipe sizes. The pitch gauges are real handy.

Only broke one tap so far. Certainly have got my money out of it. Never having to go searching for that odd, seldom used size when you need it on a Sunday evening is has been worth every penny.

I call my toolbox drill drawer "Drill town"

Not to be confused with cardboard town or electrical connector town.

Taps (for me) are something that don't get a lot of use, but i wouldn't be without them. A couple days ago I replaced the vise on my welding table. New bolt pattern. To get the vise where I wanted it one spot couldn't be through-bolted. A few minutes to drill and tap and it all worked out.
