Hey guys, sorry for long post.

I think I made a big mistake.

Just found this site and kinda in a hurry. Haven't had time to dig in here thru all the info.

I just bought a 2016 B26 with 157 hours. Had a puddle on the ground under it at the equipment sales lot. Drove 4.5 hours to get this backhoe. Short story, they pulled it up to their garage and their mechanic was checking it out while I was trying to decide on a different unit with a lot more hours, not what I was looking for but did not want to leave empty handed and needed the hoe for jobs coming up next week. Did not want to buy. My local rental company sold to new owner and have stopped furnishing small backhoe rentals.

I chose the older model and they parked it next to the nicer hoe that I initially requested, getting ready to grease it before i left with it. The head mechanic said that he found the problem, it was a rubber low pressure connector between 2 steel lines wedged against the back plate where engine and trans connect. I asked him to show it to me and sure enough, there it was. He said it was a loose connection and it was fixed. He had wiped it spotlessly clean. I, not knowing anything about this setup, or tractors in general, I asked the mechanic and salesman if there is any way for hydraulic fluid to leak in between the motor and trans and they said no, there is no way for it to leak there, it had to be a hose or line. This is a big used equipment dealer.

Anyway, I got it back to my shop, no hyd anywhere, just a hint of a drop or two on my trailer. Parked it on a level lot, came back several hours later, not a single drop. I was relieved. My son fired it up, backed up, turned and pulled forward, left a nearly solid trail of hyd for 30 feet on the pavement.

After doing research, I'm quite positive its the propeller seal. Looks like a 40 plus hour job to split the motor/trans, for a $10 seal? Can't believe this has failed at 157 hours? Apparently hyd collects in the housing and when it fills up or the hoe tips forward, it dumps what has collected onto the ground. This is a no go for us, we are all over customers paved or concrete parking lots / drives.

I am going to call the company I bought it from on Monday to see if they will do anything about it, not feeling good about it. If they would cover half the cost to repair would be appreciated. I paid top dollar for the hoe, no sweet deals to be had.

Can anyone inform me on ball park cost and hours required for this repair? Is this common at 157 hours? Any other way to get hyd fluid leak at the propeller housing? I woukd expect there is another set of seals however the engine couples to the trans? Not sure if there is any where for that type of leak to escape?

Thank you for any info. I will do some research here to try to educate myself on this model.

Thank you, have a great day!
