My FEL has lost most of it's lifting capability. Changed hydraulic filters and checked pressure at FEL quick connect at 2,700psi. It moves very slow at max RPM and not at all at idle. I'm thinking the pump suction tube strainer is partially blocked? Any ideas? Solutions?

Please provide your tractor's exact model number.

Provide loader model number and also if it has a self leveling valve

There are two different hydraulic setups on M7040. Labelled Type 1 or Type 2

If your tractor has a cab there will be a label on the right lower door glass like this one.

How many rear remotes do you have? The tractors came with one and could have up to three.

Is anything currently plugged into a rear remote?

Do you have a third function valve for a grapple or similar?

Please provide more detail on the history of this problem. Did it happen slowly gradually getting worse or suddenly. Has any work been done on hydraulic hoses.

Do other hydraulic functions like power steering, 3 pt hitch and hydraulic shuttle if equipped work OK.

Check that a rear remote is not in a detent position..... i.e. make certain remote valves are in neutral/middle position.

I also own a '11 M7040 HDC & I'm unaware of it having a hyd oil suction screen nor can I locate a suction screen in parts catalog. Besides checking to be sure scv lever is in neutral move 3 pt control lever forward a little. It's possible 3 pt feedback rod isn't properly adjusted.

+1 on Tx Jim’s comment. I, too, have a 7040 and mine did that recently and it was the draft control lever being all the way in the down position. By that I mean past the preset knob. Once I moved it up passed the preset knob, the problem disappeared. I’m sure my feedback rod might be a little out of the normal adjustment, but it is set so that the draft actually works Without going into bypass.

Actually, both of my levers were all the way down. I moved the draft control first and the FEL starting functioning correctly. So I assumed it was the draft control.
