Hello everyone!

New to the group here and a fairly new tractor owner! I bought this amazing machine a few years back and it has about 900hrs on it which is great. I mainly use it to move boats in and out the shop as i am a boat mechanic and work from home which is great. I have good knowledge, know how and most if not all the tools a man could need just dont tell the wife ;)! Not scared to jump into anything really but boats dont have wheels and geaboxes (not the outboards i work on anyway)

Anyhow, issues im having..
1. FEL loader drops and has done since ive bought it, once ive used the machine for a while and move dirt it doesnt drop nearly as much which to me says orings in the control valve maybe?! Thoughts?

2. This issue as also now gone to the 3 point hitch where it drops super slowly and sometimes when i try to lift a bigger boat it seems there is a bypass valve or poppet maybe which i can lift the lever and nothing happens. Are these connected?! Is there a bypass of some sort or would it be linked to the FEL hydraulics?

3. Im pretty sure the throwout bearing is going but would love to confirm that with this hugely knowledgable group!
When in neutral there is a grinding sound, when i just touch the clutch pedal it goes away and shifts gears fine no problem. ... ive tried adjusting pedal but it just wont go away

I am comfortable splitting the tractor and this is now my off season where i can have the tractor out of action for a while and be fine. If it goes in summertime my buisness is stopped immediately so i really want to get this done and not worry for a few more years. Is there anything i should do while im splitting the tractor for pre-emptive maintenance? Any hydralics that i can replace or check with tractor split?

Pre thanking everyone and anyone for thoughts!

Tom

Is this a B1630 loader?

No orings in the control valve. If the valve is leaking it's new valve time. Good news is that's dirt cheap and easy to fix.

When you say the loader is dropping do you mean the boom drops or the bucket droops/dumps? If the boom drops it's either a bad control valve or an external leak in the plumbing. If the bucket droops / dumps you have the added possibility of piston seals in the bucket cylinders.

The B7200 3pt is a position control valve. The lever is not directly connected to the valve. You raise the lever to a mid point and the internal linkage operates the valve to bring the lift to the corresponding point. One the height is set the system automagically senses any change in height and operates the valve to correct without any action from the operator. Theory and operation of that valve is a full course in itself.

Clutch is straight forward but requires a split at the flywheel and the loader complicates that. I have done mine twice and I dont look forward to a third.

Thank you for responding!

It is the b1630 loader, yes. In the service manual it says it has seals and o rings but if its cheop to replace i may be best to do that. My expeirence with the local kubota dealer is everything is insanely expensive! My though process was thay once i iae it for a while it clears up so it may be rings swelling with use, i dont know.

It only drops the boom itself and not the bucket (i mean the bucket drops as well but you know what i mean!)

I have attached the picture from the manual. Certainly sounds like a real pain in the arse to do all this but needs must! I have a newborn kid and a 2 year old so hopefully in years to come they can do it with me when i know what im doing!!

Clutch is what it is, i need to do it. Is there a rough hours per clutch that people agree on roughly?! Obviously user error doesnt help with timeline but an expected lifespan?!

Those orings are external seals. They have nothing to do with internal sealing between the ports in the valve.

Internal sealing relies on a sub-thousandth sliding metal to metal clearace between the spools and valve body. When that clearance widens with wear the valve leaks pressure between ports and cannot be rebuilt.

Here is an inexpensive replacement for the OEM valve. It includes an integral joystick that is s big improvement over the crappy OEM handle.

You also need the optional power beyond sleeve to complete the plumbing on your loader. Three hoses connect the valve to the tractor hydraulics. If you don't understand how that works better ask before leaping.

Clutch wear varies greatly with operator and usage but 1000 hours is not unreasonable.

Hi Dan, thank you already for all the help you have given me!

I will probably end up going this route so thank you for the heads up. I will see what it ends up costing me to get to Canada.

Im not hugely knowledgable on hydraulics and seems like you are! That sleeve is it a constricter of some sort to pump up power? Would i need it on each hose or just "line in" so to speak?

Thanks again

If you are in Canada you probably want to find a different source for that valve. They are very common.

The power beyond sleeve is just that - a sleeve. You only need one and it goes in the N port on the valve. Its purpose is to split the out flow into two circuits. One is low pressure tank return and the other is high pressure carry over for down stream valves - in your case the 3pt.

Hi Dan,

So i havent managed to start this project yet as my truck transmission blew up and had to rebuild and i my 2nd son was born!

I am going to start the next week or 2 but i wanted to check and see if this control valve would work in your opinion? Im assuming i would need a power beyond sleeve too?

Also, does the loader have to come off or is it doable with it staying on? Im happy to take it off if it is going to save me some swears 😉!

I am not a fan of Vevor anything but yes it has a powet beyond port and would work. Finding a power beyond sleeve for it may be a bit of an exercise.

No need to remove the loader.

Ive personally had some good stuff from them but obviously have to be particular with what you buy. Would the original control valve have one that i could transfer over? I could also just buy one from the local kubota dealer they are just brutal to deal with!

The sleeves are specific to the valve. The Vevor valve is a Chinese knock off the European P40 valves and a P40 sleeve will probably work. They are readily available in the US from Summit Hydraulics ($25) but they do not ship to Canada. Summit also sells the complete European P40 valve with a flost spool and PB sleeve for $250. That is what I would reccomend.
