This applies only to long term storage of high-sulfur diesel in small containers.

Galvanized/zinc tanks and pipes are fine for ultra-low sulfur diesel and is preferred for long term storage. (It’s a shame that ignorant people who like to pretend they know everything about anything work at some tractor dealers and Big Orange Box stores.)

Here’s a link to the galvanizing industry on this subject: https://galvanizeit.org/knowledgebase/article/hdg-and-fuel-storage-tanks
As an added note, I re-red thru this thread and realized my earlier post (quoted here) appeared to criticize your post, Captain13 and I apologize for that. It was not YOU to whom I was referring when I mentioned know-it-alls at big box stores. I was actually thinking about the spate of new-hires at Home Despot that pontificate on subjects of which they have no experience whatever.
Sorry if I came across as being critical of your input.

And please note that in my original post I did acknowledge that zinc in small containers is a no-no.

I’m not offended and if I came across as a jacka$$, I apologize. I have spent a lot of time on fuel related issues with Diesel engines on ships and seen the effects of contaminates and chemical reactions. Thanks for reaching out.

Is bunker fuel the same as #2 Diesel? I thought it was much different...

Allow me to disagree.

Low energy costs benefit EVERYONE in the US aside from those in the energy industry (certainly in the short term and arguably in the long term).

SDT

Low consumer fuel prices being good or bad across our economy, now is the time to stock up on all fuels – and everything else.

There WILL be a second wave of this socialist opportunity…er, I mean, this virus…probably beginning in the autumn, and we ain’t seen nothin’ yet as far as supply chains
collapsing and corrupt, incompetent government at all levels slipping on the brown shirts and the jack boots.

Look at Virginia, Michigan, the Piples Respubleek of Kaleeforniya, New York, and tell me I’m wrong. Its ok, I'll wait.

According to Bill Buppert at ZeroGov were witnessing a culmination of decades of government supremacist indoctrination
that has rendered common sense obsolete:

“All the usual suspects have made claims for knowing exactly what we’re facing. Not a particularly vicious flu season but a goddamned Biblical apocalypse that threatens the very fabric of modern civilization.
Hence the importance of governments planet-wide rushing to impose every manner of tyrannical and ill-conceived centrally planned nonsense that has always made any human calamity worse by orders of magnitude.

They can’t help themselves because it is all they know.”

Guys we have one last window from May-ish through October-ish to stock up on cleaners, wipes, paper products, foodstuffs, particularly proteins, fuel, and personal protection-
the kinds made of paper and latex and lead, if you catch my drift.

This is not going to be pretty.

Sooooooooo..........

Power Service Bio-Kleen?

ROFLMAO
Yes, follow the directions on the bottle. Tractor Supply has it. Not inexpensive and has the usual EPA warnings on the bottle about ingestion but you won't drink it anyway, it stinks. I believe last time I bought a bottle (last year), it was 25 bucks but a bottle goes a looooooong way. Only takes a tiny bit.

I have to reply to the preceeding comment now......:D

For once we agree 100%. The second wave will be 100 times worse than the present one. There is no cure, no vaccine, no certified therapy, just a lot of if's.

I like the sheep. In as much as I call the uninformed sheeple.

Just read that 60% of the Democrats blame Trump for the virus and I'm thinking to myself that probably 60% of the Democrats need a written instruction manual so they can inhale and exhale properly...

Nothing changes here. Don't care what the governors do. I'll still social distance, wear a mask, wash my hands many rimes a day, use hand sanitizer and wear latex gloves when filling up my car and handling my credit cards. Don't like it, tough

it is. Bunker fuel is heavy distillate and must be preheated to combust. No. 2 diesel is like naptha compared to Bunker Fuel. Stuff is nasty. I used to haul it. The fuel is loaded hot (375 degrees) and has to maintain at least 350 degrees to off load.

When you see the tanker trucks on the road with a white placard and the word HOT on it, that is bunker fuel or sometimes Bitumen for an asphalt plant.

Not un-biased at all, Geo. My points of view about life and reality are the firmly held products of intelligence mixed with experience and a lot of courage. Like Johannes Kepler, I prefer the truth, however unpleasant or disappointing, to my dearest desires.

Truth, such as all these “–isms” - the liberal, socialist, communist, progressive, centralist, Marxist, radical – have been chewing at our country and way of life since their inception.

And these “-isms” inevitably fail after inflicting varying periods of untold misery on their victims: the Armenian genocide of 1915, the Soviet purges of the 1930s, Nazi Germany, China’s “Great Leap Forward”, Ugandan “independence” in the 1960s, the Cambodian genocide of the 1970s, Guatemalan genocide of 1983, Chechen and Yugoslavian and Rwandan ethnic cleansing in the 1990s, the destruction of Argentina, Cuba, Colombia, Venezuela.

Show me what improvement in the human condition, what raising of the individual human spirit, what good has come to these places under these “-isms.” Show me where my point of view is in error.

Woodrow Wilson, FDR, Stalin, Hitler, Johnson, Saul Alinsky, Norman Davies, Cloward-Piven, Pol Pot, Mao, Castro, The Clintons, Obama, Schumer, Pelosi, “-ists” who by their documented deeds, not their duplicitous, disingenuous words, display their own imperious self-entitlement and cynical, egocentric condescension; their common loathing for America’s people and way of life.

Yes, Id say I have very biased, hard won and strongly held points of view. Show me where my points of view are in error.

Next, I don’t see any blame from me toward folks who disagree. No accusations of their being un-Christian. The only thing even remotely “religious” was the word Biblical, and that was in the quote from Buppert in ZeroGov. See the marks? They mean someone else is talking...

No, the adolescent, knee jerk defensiveness against a different point of view didn’t come from this direction…

This virus, no matter what your thoughts are on its origins, deployment, intent or virulence, has been politicized by the “-ists” and will be used to inflict even more draconian, Marxist control on an indoctrinated and increasingly complacent population.

The despots who have seized it, from strutting, incompetent little mayors to bloated, indifferent Congressmen, have no interest in public safety or saving lives, the jobs and businesses and dreams of ordinary Americans.

They are putting Winston Churchill’s wry reflection to typical use directly from the liberal playbook: “Never let a good crisis go to waste.”

And when the next wave hits, and it will - check your virological history and the biology of viruses - it will be used by the despots, the “-ists”, as the ultimate and unarguable excuse for a government usurpation of power and nullification of the Constitution in the name of safety. And citizen Franklin will have been proven right again.

So sleep the sleep of the unconscious. Submit to the new normal, join the ranks of the useful idiots. Wave at the Chicom surveillance drones, accept your I'm-not-infected tracking devices, shut up, stay home and stay healthy. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. Those rumblings on the horizon are just the ramblings of Chicken Little.

Or maybe the Little Red Hen.

Seriously Geo, you sound like MSNBC talking points. Just makes you look bad and hateful. What is it about America and freedom that has you so bothered? Why try so hard to change it into something that has failed over and over.

Lot of experts here.
Right or wrong I use PRI-D works for me and has high ratings.
I got the info for the PRi-G which is the gas version from a few prepper sites, the PRI-G will preserve gasoline and restore old gasoline better than any, so I found they had a diesel version.

Keep in mind that, if the bottle don't have the cautionary nomenclature in it (that is a Federal requirement for all algecides and biocides), then it's not either.

Don't matter what elixir you use, I don't care, but it has to have the label on it to be a biocode / algaecide. No exceptions, it's a Federal EPA requirement.

You don't restore gasoline (ethanol) anyway. All you do is remove the water stratification the corn alcohol causes. E-gas is crap to begin with. Thank Obama for that.

I come here to learn some things about my tractor. The subject the OP posted interested me. However, as is the case far too often, it just takes to much time to sift through all the trolling BS to make it worth while. It would be nice to just read about the subject posted without having to filter out the rest of the noise. Perhaps all this other BS could be put in another thread (as was suggested earlier, and then completely ignored by the same person). If not, then at least make an attempt to keep on topic, and start your own thread for the rest of the pissing and moaning. Your not going agree - get over it and move on... don't make me call your mom.[emoji12]

Agreed. I'll do you one better. Perhaps this BS can be posted ON ANOTHER FORUM.

I'm tired of this crap as well. Too many threads are being derailed. This IS a tractor forum after all and used to be a "fun" forum. Not so much for me to read any more. I may just have to enable the ignore user feature once again.

Regarding Algaecide. Timely post. I just changed my fuel filter last week for the first time as part of 200 hr service. The cartridge looked dark (almost black). I've always used power service with a Mr Funnel which seems to eliminate any water, but never an algaecide. I think I'll start using some as a preventative measure. We only had plowable snow this winter, so I'm still trying to burn up fuel from last year. I'm concerned that much of the fuel sitting in gas stations will be getting pretty stale with low demand. So, thanks for the fuel additive suggestions.
