Hello everyone,

I acquired a generator assembly a few months back, upon inspection the generator generator windings are bad. The engine is a z482 which runs like a top. The generator is a Markon brand and apparently they aren't easy to find. That being said, I am looking for some input as to the best route to go as far as attaching a different power head to this motor. If anyone has any links or information as to how to mount a new gen head thoughts on the matter, any input would be appreciated.

You could take the generator to a motor rewinding shop to get an estimate for repair but it may not be economically feasible. Unless you are looking to have a diesel powered generator for better fuel economy during long run times, a lower cost gas run-generator would be less expensive for occasional stand-by duty IMHO.

well, first off, acording to Google, your engine is rated for 10.8HP. That's probably flat out, so realistically it'd run a 5,000 Watt generator, about half what you have.
you'll also have to decide upon what kind of feedback to control RPM as gennys have to be stable to maintain constant frequency ( 50 or 60 Hz).
