    luckily I’m buying a 225 trans/diff (same as 175 from what I understand) next weekend and just gonna bolt it up. Bummer though, basically did this diff project for no reason.

    Well. Installed it. Worked great. Did some work for a few hours. Went to pull a stump, and the pinion wore out. Just slaps the ring gear now. It was already worn, but I guess the added load is what finally did it in. Anyone know what it takes to replace it? @Russell King

    The hole is there. Weird though, my dad’s l175 has a different style freeze plug. I think a previous commenter may have been right when they said mines just been painted over and was hard to tell.

    I would appreciate that a lot. Thank you. @Russell King the kit DID actually come with a lock ring but it has 5 or 6 pins instead of two like the picture you posted. Since the part is available not too concerned, I’ll share pics when I get in there, and then we’ll see which version fits. hmm

    saw that too, and also was unable to find it illustrated for the 175. BUT in the workshop manual it DOES say if your L175 is equipped, the first step to diff service is essentially removing the seat/case cover, then pulling out the diff lock assy… I may have to open it up and just see.     There’s a diff lock kit for my l175 on eBay. And I know it was a factory option. But when I look at parts diagrams it’s usually not there. Just wondering if the kit will have everything I need and if anyone has ever done it. Looks like the kit has some springs, bearings, the foot pedal, and fork.
