    Raplacing combination switch on BX2660

The web interfaces of some of these sites make it hard to find parts, and often they misdirect you to parts you don't want. I find the Kubota site less than the friendliest when searching for parts. It's moot now.

    Raplacing combination switch on BX2660

The nearest dealer is 30 miles away, and they have a 3-month wait time for service right now, and you have to drop off your equipment to be put in the queue -- they don't make appointments or call you when they're ready to work on yours -- so I'm learning how to service it myself. I do not use...

    Raplacing combination switch on BX2660

You would think that finding a K2581-62242 would be simple and straightforward, but it has been extraordinarily difficult, with everyone redirecting to the horn switch.

    Raplacing combination switch on BX2660

Then they're lazy. They don't know or care what they're selling, as long as it makes them a buck. What I find interesting (or scary) is how widespread this movement is among K2581-62242 "sellers". Why this overwhelming tendency towards selling a horn switch in its place? Or to falsely...

Thanks, but I already have one on the way.

    Raplacing combination switch on BX2660

I know; please read my OP. But try finding someone selling it who doesn't say that it's been discontinued and tries to sell you a horn switch instead. Even Messick's says that it's been discontinued, unless you find a back door way into their site (a Google search happened to stumble upon it).

    Raplacing combination switch on BX2660

My original questions still stand. Rephrasing: Why are so many sites saying that the K2581-62240/K2581-62242 have been totally discontinued, and that the horn switch is the only replacement? Why are so many of them falsely selling the horn switch as the K2581-62240/K2581-62242? Was an actual...

    Raplacing combination switch on BX2660

As I said, > "Kubota part number K2581-6224* (* being 0 or 2 optionally preceded by a dash)." the *62240 and *62242 are, for all intents and purposes, the same. They are not the horn switch. But the Kabota and 99.99% of other sites say that both of them have been discontinued, and replaced...

    Raplacing combination switch on BX2660

Oh, and sites are selling the horn switch as "compatible" with the original K2581-6224* switch, which is deceptive. Look at this angry Amazon reviewer's comments: https://a.co/d/4Yj0dG1

    Raplacing combination switch on BX2660

The problem is that 99.999% of sites say that the old "4way" switch has been discontinued, and has been replaced with the horn switch. I was actually thinking of dissecting the unit with the horn switch and replacing it with an off-on toggle switch. Push-on, push-off. Similar to the flasher...

    Raplacing combination switch on BX2660

As I said in my original post, I've looked at the WSM.

    Raplacing combination switch on BX2660

I want to replace the combination switch on my BX2660, which is Kubota part number K2581-6224* (* being 0 or 2 optionally preceded by a dash). On the Kubota site, the part is listed as discontinued. The only ones I see for sale are aftermarket ones with a horn button which, when pressed...

Problems encountered when running a used BX2660

"It's the filters, stupid!!!" Couldn't resist. I appreciate the comments, but I think that I am using the equipment within its bounds. If I ever sense that I am reaching its limits, I'll back off inmediately, and use mitigation techniques such as mowing in multiple passes. That never happened...

Problems encountered when running a used BX2660

I know about not overloading equipment; I know how to cut taller grass/brush in passes, first at taller heights, and then at lower heights. The original smoke was not due to overloading the equipment; it was due to an extremely clogged inlet fuel filter which had probably been neglected by the...

Problems encountered when running a used BX2660

The fuel filters were clogged up, especially the inlet one under the tractor, which I understand is often neglected. Inlet: Outlet: After they were replaced, the tractor and cutter worked just fine: \ The throttle lock does not hold, so until it's fixed, I'll have to use a bungee cord...

Problems encountered when running a used BX2660

I recently bought a used BX2660 with implements. I understand it had two previous owners, my seller and one other owner. There is something wrong in the Operator Presence Control sensors which sometimes prevents startup. I think it is in the PTO clutch lever. Last night it would not start...
