who flys flags here and why?

I dont have my flag up today.... shame on me. I do have an American flag that I will fly when weather permits. When we get our home built, we WILL have 3 flying: (and properly lighted) American POW/MIA Texas I served 21 years active duty, my wife served a tour, my son served and my daughter...

Will 3 cycl start w/o glow plugs?

I have a question... wouldnt it be worse on the engine (or starter anyway) to start a diesel without using the glow plugs? My L245DT is a little cold natured (even in Texas), but I use the glow plugs to make it "fire off" sooner. I even used the compression relief for the first time, after it...

    Getting stuck

I was able to use 4x4 on my L245DT for the first time today... pulling a box blade and needed a little more traction, had the diff lock pedal down and both rear were giving all they had (4th gear/low range, 2wd).... pushed in the clutch, pulled her into 4wd, let out the clutch... she rolled up...

subframe built, all together and running.

Well, she sat for over a year and a half, but she's back.... My L245DT broke the front ear off the block and most of my mounting holes had helicoils in them.... so I build a subframe from fel center to front assembly (bypassing the cast iron block) and she's good and stiff now. I went out and...

    L245DT front piniom broke

... again, I agree with you all. I was just "saving a buck", to give it a try. the break was "outside the diff" so "if" it goes (or when), it should make a clean break with no "extra dammage"... ... the "learning experience" and seeing how simple it is to replace, I will be able to replace the...

    L245DT front piniom broke

... my grannie worked at the Koffee Kup Kafe' for 30+ years.... .. After living in Washington DC, Las Vegas, Korea, Alaska, Europe, Florida and other crazy places, its nice to hide out in the boonies. I tell folks we're "on the witness protection program". =)

    L245DT front piniom broke

I see what you're saying, in my pic, its the "worst" part of the weld job. The coupler goes on it good and tight, the spline grooves and ridges are cut well and straight. (more that 3/4+ is untouched by the grinder). I only went along with "the welder" to "give it a shot", as he said, it could...

    L245DT front piniom broke

well well well..... due to lack of interest, the tractor has been sitting a while, untill today..!!! So, my rewelded pinion turned out ok, we'll see how long it holds up... I have the front end all back together, with the tires/wheels on it so I can roll it around. Next is the fabrication of a...

Tips for Using a Box Scraper?

I'm no pro, but I know it takes a lot of time.... your knocking down the humps and filling the holes with the spoils from the humps.... take the tops off the bigger humps towards the larger dips and repeat (over and over....). before you know it, there will only be the minor dips where you...

L245 DT 3 points hitch is weak

my seat spring is broken too. its not so bad, I may fix it some day. my tractor is one of early models and I broke the front at the engine... I am building a full subframe to keep her together. The later models have a deep oil pan that supports the front better, hopefully you have the better...

    L245DT Question

when was the last time you changed the hyd filter screen...? sounds like you may have some flow issues

L245 DT 3 points hitch is weak

Yes, you can clean the screen, just be ready for all the fluid to run out when you pull the screen.... You may be able to park the tractor with the rear end up higher than the front or put the cover back on the filter hole while you clean the filter screen. I just wanted to say I enjoyed living...

    Hey Vic and pro fabricators....?

subframe/skid plate idea.... its a section of I-beam, cut out access points... drill some holes in the edges to mount attachment points, I think this is the way I'm heading.

L245DT front axle center BIG o'rings?

Hello OTT, its been a while... I'm back, hope it cools off enough to get out and put my tractor back together.... I had my front pinion welded back together (not "perfect" but I think it will work). I HOPE the front "pumpkin" O'rings I ordered are right.... the diagrams dont show some "extra...

    Replacing Oil Pan Gasket

When you get under the tractor and take a look at it and pull the 4 bolts, you'll see that these tractors are actually easy to work on. There are some good illustrations out there, you just have to find them. Any time you need advise, feel free to post up and someone will help.

    Replacing Oil Pan Gasket

The front drive shaft should be pretty easy, unless you have a bucket on the front, where the mid support mount may make it difficult. I have a L245DT which should be pretty close to the same. You have 2 bolts on the rear shaft housing, and 2 bolts on a tab on the front half of the shaft...

    interchangable parts...? L245DT

I found out my tractor is not a 1986 model, but a 1976.... (serial number 10126) in 82-83, the front axle bracket was beefed up, along with the oil pan, making a heavier duty front end. Has anyone replaced the old model front axle bracket with a new one? old part 35220-44700 (#001 page...

    "complete crankcase"....?

Thanks Vic. Thats what I was expecting, but couldnt find it.... Well, I AM getting the correct front assembly and the correct oil pan, that will give me 4 extra supporting bolts across the bottom front, and maybe weld up one extra support for a chipped tab on the block..... That will get me...
