Drum mower experiences and possible hacks..

I think we're agreeing here, but to verify - yes, I could still control pitch with the top link, but what I'm thinking is that it shouldn't pitch on it's own, while underway.

Drum mower experiences and possible hacks..

I'm upset with Titan. They have no parts, and basically no support, and I can't return it. I also don't feel good about pawning it off on someone else. So I'm thinking about how to improve it: First off, I'm trying to get clear about how they're supposed to operate. Potentially the drums could...

Drum mower experiences and possible hacks..

I really appreciate you taking the time to discuss this! I'm still not quite understanding this: On the one hand, I think we're agreeing that the drums should be leveled, and that that's done by adjusting the mower and the 3 points? But then if the drums are mostly supporting themselves, how...

Drum mower experiences and possible hacks..

Yeah, I watched that video but it seems like my mower isn't anywhere near that sophisticated :( As I mentioned, it just sort of flops around. Let me reiterate a question I asked you after the fact in a previous post (my bad): One more question: Does it seem to you that the weight of the...

Drum mower experiences and possible hacks..

When I let it run along the ground it sort of flopped around, I know, not a great description. More precisely, the drums didn't stay vertical. I'm imagining that with a good drum mower, the drums sort of follow the terrain but stay pretty close to vertical? What was your experience with how the...

    Drum mower experience?

Sad to say, I'm regretting buying the Titan drum mower. I "think" I know why I don't like it, but I'll start up another thread..

Quick hitches, adjustable widths, or Cat1 adapted to a bit narrower than Cat1 ?

Update! I got the new spacers added to the too-narrow baler. (picture of one side below). It was a real pain to use a hand held drill to drill 3/4" holes into 3/4" steel, but other than that, things are looking really good. I just finished about 16 hours of baling and the spacers were rock...

Help needed on a decision about rear hydraulics

I've had my L3901 for 3 years now and I love it. Every once in a while I wish I got the L4701. When I got my L3901 I had the dealer install top and tilt. I mostly love it, I use it a lot! But I also feel that it sometimes maxxes out my tractor, especially when topping/tilting heavier...

Drum mower experiences and possible hacks..

I recently purchased a 53" drum mower from Titan. I'm still working with them, but my conclusion is that they've been making non-PTO gear for a while and they're pretty good at that, but that they're new to making PTO gear? The reason I say this is that for the last 3 months all I've been...

    Drum mower experience?

I did a test run with my Titan drum mower, seemed good. The real haying starts in about a week.

Land Pride RCR 1860 - odd pin for top link ?

Okay, I'm embarrassed. False alarm. Orange paint was the culprit. My bad. I hooked it up using my 5/8" bolt and bushing and drove it out into the light so that I could make sure the slip clutch was still slipping and hooking up the PTO and such. It looks like just driving it 100 yards from the...

Land Pride RCR 1860 - odd pin for top link ?

I think my weak, arthritic hands are a part of the problem. My approach has been similar, but in the end, I have to crawl underneath and get both hands on the PTO collar. Out of curiosity, how wide are the top-link pin holes on your 1860 if you wanted to NOT use the QH? I called my dealer and...

Land Pride RCR 1860 - odd pin for top link ?

Yes, when using my QH15, that's what I've been doing! But I want to try using the cutter without the QH15. Mainly because the QH15 makes it super hard to attach the PTO to the tractor.

Land Pride RCR 1860 - odd pin for top link ?

That's the plan. I do wonder how strong a grade 5 bolt is compared to a link pin? They'd be roughly the same diameter except the bolt has threads which makes it smaller.

Land Pride RCR 1860 - odd pin for top link ?

I've used my Land Pride rotary cutter only via my quick hitch. But it's a pain to hook up the PTO with the quick hitch in the way. So I thought I'd just skip the quick hitch this time... Well if I ever had a pin for the top link I can't find it. And then, when trying other pins, I came to the...

    PTO Overrun clutch?

aha! interesting! thanks! Ok, so I see I can buy a whole new shaft with a slip clutch or a shear pin. But it would be nice if I could just buy a short adapter with a shear pin. and I can't seem to find that. Maybe my search terms are wrong, or such an adapter doesn't exist?

    PTO Overrun clutch?

I would agree that a tedder rake is less likely to come to a sudden, dead stop than other implements. But let's say it did...

    Correct lengths for PTO shafts

I just got my new drum mower set up and working yesterday, hooray! But as I was doing this I had to cut down one of the provided shafts, and so I went down the rabbit hole of exactly how long these shafts should be. It seems there are two big considerations: 1 - How many inches of play should...

    PTO Overrun clutch?

I have an old, old hay tedder / rake. It works great, but as far as I can tell there is no slip clutch or shear pin. So I'm thinking about getting one of these PTO overrun clutches. I know I'll have to shorten the PTO shaft if I get this. Does anyone have any thoughts or experience with these...

    Drum mower replacement blades question

I wonder if it has to do with breed or climate? The ones that I let graze will make "cow holes", shallow and wide. The rancher tells me when they lay in these holes it keeps them cooler?
