    L1500DT ToDo List

Hi @jhon Yeah - the shaft and the UJs are made from unobtainium. However, since the shaft does not pass through any hangers, carriers or bearings, you can have it rebuilt using new UJs and Tube stock of a different, but similar, size. The thing that will be difficult to match is the splined...

    4wd engaged wheels wont turn.

Hello! Welcome to the Ornage tractor forums! A ford you say.... What's that? Only kidding! Why not disengage all drive (neutral, 4WD off) and jack up each corner and see if the wheels are free and take it from there.

    L1500DT ToDo List

Hi, I'm back. What have I missed? ;-) Caught Covid last year in June, and been really lacking in energy ever since. However, I'm now starting to feel human again and longing for winter to be over, so I can get on with fixing up my L1500DT Last year I replaced the hydraulic hoses, 4WD shaft...

    L1500DT Steering issues

My poor old L1500DT just loves getting a bit of attention ;-) Just about everythng in the steering is worn out! In the steering box I've already replaced the shaft bearings (x2): And replaced the 60-odd little ball bearings and guides in the shaft. (What a fiddly job that is!) And then I...

Short video of my L1500DT running

Thanks Samantha! It's two steps forward, one back. But that's OK - it's all progress! I've now found a badly worn tie rod end, making it impossible to drive in a straight line! Better get that fixed before I do anything else 😂 I'm looking forward to seeing some pics of yours! -K.

Short video of my L1500DT running

Hi Russell Thanks for the advice. Very wise regarding the loader arm. I won't remove the injectors until I have new crush washers - thanks, that saved me some trouble.

Short video of my L1500DT running

Here's a couple of very short videos of my L1500DT running, and the loader/bucket operating. At least some of the noise in the first video is because the exhaust is contacting the FEL frame. There are a lot of noises! Video of L1500DT running And here's a closeup of the diesel injectors. The...

    L1500 alternator replaced

Thank you! I'm reasonably sure it's the original regulator. I'll try to get some time to strip it down and check.

    L1500 alternator replaced

Thanks! I will check the wiring next chance I get to work on the tractor. I found the WSM for the L175 which is pretty similar. It has a good diagram of the alternator and regulator wiring.

    L1500 alternator replaced

I've had my L1500DT for about 3 months now. The battery hasn't been charging, and when I tested the alternator there was no voltage at all coming from it. (Energised, bench test). So I bought a new one from Stavros-Savva and fitted it tonight. Now, charging voltage at the battery is about 18V at...

    Overheating and low oil pressure?

Thanks everyone! I did an oil and filter change, and used a single weight oil as suggested. The oil pressure light has gone back to normal now. I think it has had the oil filter on it for decades - a genuine Kubota one with Japanese writing all over it and a real pig to get off! Also found a...

    Overheating and low oil pressure?

Thanks Dan. Yeah, I understand it's not easy to diagnose on a forum, so I appreciate your help. This is my first tractor, and I only got it to help repair a long driveway from time to time, so I just need it to be good for occasional use. Having said that, I don't want to damage it beyond...

    Overheating and low oil pressure?

Thanks for the reply! I will do the things you've suggested and make sure the rad and block are clear.

    Overheating and low oil pressure?

My L1500DT was running for about 30 minutes at the weekend when I switched it off because the oil light was coming on at anything below a high idle. When I switched it off I realised the water in the radiator was boiling. The fan belt is in good condition, and this engine (Z750) doesn't use a...

    L1500DT Front Drive Shaft:

I did indeed get parts from Cyprus and shipping and import duty were reaosnable. (I'm in the UK though). I can understand wanting to get parts from the US. This is the site I used: https://www.stavros-savva-co-ltd.com.cy/

    L295DT Loose/Wandering Steering

This is the adjustment point. Remove the rubber bung, loosen (don't remove) the nut. Inside the nut is a slotted screw head. Adjust the screw, then tighent the nut, and put the bung back. Turning the screw one way will make things worse, then other way will make it better. Howvere there are...

    L1500 Hydraulic oil change.

😆 Well your damned if you do and your damned if you don't... 😆 Just going by the book :-) I looked up UTTO from my local supplier - exact same price as 80 weight gear oil. I guess now I have to drain it all back out, dispose of it, and refill with UTTO.... that's £80 I won't get back!

    L1500 Hydraulic oil change.

In the process of showing my old L1500DT some love, I am changing the hydraulic oil. I couldn't find a WSM for the L1500 but I believe the L175 is very similar. It tells me that the oil should be SAE 80 Gear Lube, and capacity is 22.04 Litres. I got 20L of SAE80 from a local oil specialist...

Out with the old, in with the new
