I have an older Kubota L185, My question is. What weight hydraulic/Trans oil do they use?? The manual calls for a heavy deferential type 85/90. But that seems too heavy to me. I checked the oil that's in the chunk. And it is a clear hyd type oil. So someone must have changed it at one time.

Any good brand name grease will suffice,, I use Lucas. But that's just my personal choice.

I want to thank all who responded to my starter problem on my L185. I pulled it today. And replaced it with a new Denso Gear Reduction starter. That little tractor has never started so good!! The old starter was so tight I could hardly turn the shaft by hand! Anyway she's fixed!!! :)

Yes I've cleaned ever cable connection. And wire connection. I just figure that old Reman starter thats on there has laid down on me,,,

Cleaning the terminals after I put the new battery in was the first thing I did. And that starter was still slow and draggy. I figure it is the starter. Because it gets so hot with very little cranking. But thanks for your reply..

My L185 has had a draggy starter since I purchased it in 2019. I changed the old battery the next year. Put on a 800 cold cranking amp battery. Thinking the battery was the problem. But nothing changed.! Still draggy and sluggish on the turnover. The starter seems to get excessively hot after...
