It's a little late but I just did this repair, replacing the two brackets. The brackets do slide right off the end of the hydraulic cylinder. It was a fairly easy repair to do, a few hours maybe as I was taking it slow. Unfortunately, I still have a "clunk" when I steer partway to the right...
