I was a dedicated mopar man from 1998 until 2020. Had some issues with MOPAR parts & service (5 dealers + MOPAR directly for 2 vehicles). 2 of those dealers closed (1 due to class action lawsuit). I had enough of deal with them so in 2020 I bought a Ford F150. My Parents always drove GM...

I'm planning on using white oak. Had a few things come up in addition to prior plans and also some out-of-town family now planning on visiting so will be busy pretty much every weekend into September. Not in any rush to complete bridge, will probably be winter or early spring before...

I haven't found any used lumber dealers, but have found people that are selling used lumber - it's either store bought stuff which I'm wanting thicker stuff, it's too small in length (< 6') or it's "antique barn wood and priced at a premium - way more than I'd pay for new custom cut white oak. Many of the used trailers I've seen on FB Market place are homemade junk that's being sold because it's not worth it anymore. The square frame on one was all rusted. Another was made from boat trailer. One I would have to spend $1000 in steel + time to prep and weld before I'd considered...

As they should be in some cases  Contractor that built neighbors house and is building others in the area often hauls his skid steer between job sites without a single strap, chain or even piece of gum to secure it to his trailer. And yes, it's a Kubota . Dan

I consider trailer idea, but didn't want to go that route for a few reasons. the last few days, I did get the remaining 2 concrete pads for the near side end of the beams poured and beams sprayed with rust inhibitor (jacked up and sprayed under as well) and bolted down to the concrete columns...

BX 2380 at 99.7 hours - anything I should especially be looking for?

It seems that way to me. I mow a field and everytime I have to clean off the plastic screen around the battery under the steering wheel multiple times (it's 3-4 acre lot). Then have to pop the hood and remove the screen before the radiator to clean it othewise it'll run hot. It gets clogged up...

Every profession has fancy bean couting. When I started this project, I didn't think it would be as difficult as I found out to find the details i was looking for to accomplish what I wanted. This has been a huge help and wealth of knowledge. Dan

The piers are set using a 24" round sonotube that was 12' long cut into 4 pierce so 3' per pier. The concrete is 5000psi quikrete with 8 -10 pieces of rebar inside. The beams are bolted down to concrete piers using concrete anchors (2 per beam per pier) that were set in the concrete before it...

This post has given more different ideas I hadn't considered. Some better, some easier and some more work. As with anything the first time, it's a learning curve and sometimes the information you need isn't easily available. With time and money, anything is possible. It's about making it...

It have just been one, I don't recall and I can't find the quote - It probably wound up in the trash. Even dirt is expensive, local places close to me are 30+ a yard (unfiltered) and smaller delivery fees. Cheaper places are 20-25, but those places are further away (2 hour round trip drive) and...

Nothing around where I live is cheap in terms of contractors. It was earlier this spring when I got the quote and I think it was using 6' culverts, 2 of them. I'll try to get a picture of neighbors culvert that he said was 50k. I'm not sure about the company that did his though, when site...

The 2-3" boards you're referring to are real 2" or 3" thick and not nominal? The Reason I was using the 2x8" standing up was to support the weight as what I found is 1.5" thick board was not enough to support the weight I have in mind across the span between steel beams. I found a few more...

No, they have been sitting outside for a number of years though. They are still solid and no soft spots. The friend I got them from got them from a construction site years ago he worked on - they were just going to bury them. He was going to use them to add another bay on to his shop that he...

Just to be clear I understand what you mean: Are you saying that "Running cross boards is a waste of time and won't do anything for strength." - you are referring to the cross bracing between the two i-beams? If so, I was only considering doing that in a few spots (maybe 3-4) in case of...
